So I decided to wash my car today with a higher pressure jobbie. Job done go to take off and the airbag light has come on. I'm thinking WTF. I didn't even clean the engine bay so I must of got the front sensor wet somehow. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? Its no biggy and I'll ring a mate at Holden tomorrow to get it reset (hopefully it goes away). But annoying none the less.. It would be nice if EFI LIVE could reset all the onboard controllers so I could do it myself.

Haven't had it happen to me, but have heard of things falling down the side of the seat causing them to go off... Could just be a loose plug. When they clear the code they'll be able to tell you which sensor triggered it, so it will give you a better idea of where to look

The guys at EFILive have mentioned this and the answer has always been, "no, we won't add this functionality" For starters, EFILive only really talks "completely" to the ECM / PCM, not BCM. The BCM only gets a cursory glance. I don't think the full protocol for the BCM has been really looked into. The other thing was that they were concerned certain people may get a legitimate ABS / Air Bag warning and just turn it off rather than fix the problem.

This used to happen with my VT sometimes when I went through one of those automatic car washes...I just used to take it to a Holden dealer and they would plug it into the Nintendo thingy and clear the error message...there was never anything wrong with it, the sensors just never liked the car wash I think.

Macca I have banned myself from washing the front of my car and the engine bay of my car with a high pressure hose. Everytime I get water in the engine bay anywhere either or all of the ABS, Airbag light and track control comes on. After a few days when it dries out they turn them selfves off. I have a bad connectors in there somewhere that gets affected by water.
Never found which one but easyer not to wet the engine bay.

So the airbag caution can reset itself. Thats odd because I was always under the impression that it needed to be reset via a Tech II. If it can reset itself I'll see how it is in the morning and report back.

There is a cylinder thing on a black cable under where the air box is/was dry that off and it should be good to go

The couple of times it has happened it turns it self off.
I will check that cable mentioned above.

Well its been about 4 weeks so its not going to reset itself. Went down to Holden today to see the boys and get it scanned. Turned out the History code showed a Right Hand Sensor Power anomaly. Which means it was the right side seat airbag trigger. I don't even know where that sensor is except that its on the right side let alone how water may or may not have got in there. We had a look at all the seals and they are fine so who knows. Anyways the boys reset it for me gratis which is appreciated and I'm just happy not to have to hear that god awful beeping and annoying red light everytime I start the car any more.
