Interested in knowing if any VE owner (or anyone really) has had issues with their rear parking sensors. Mine are working 'on occasions'. Some times they won't come up at all (either audibly or visually on the screen), sometimes it's a constant beep like someone is standing right up against it and then other times it just works as normal.

What should I be checking.

Hey Bonners,

Do yours go on the screen? Mine doesn't (I am assuming you have a V sedan) and was told by Holden that mine won't go on the audio unit as they are only on top level Commodores? Huh, I ordered them as an option on my SSV new and was of the opinion that they would be the same as the SS-V wagon.

In answer to your intial question, I haven't had any dramas with mine in the two months that I own it.

Cheers

I had mine fitted by my dealer and so far havn't had a problem. They can be quite sensitive i.e picking up the road backing out a drive atan angle etc.

I wouldn't be with out them now, due the ar$e of the SS being so high.

Job for the dealer I would say.

It may be an intermittant sensor or connection. I had a sensor unit fall inside the rear bumper after travelling on a country road. When I returned home and activated the sensors to park in the garage, nothing worked (front or back) and the light in the switch was flashing.

I managed to get the sensor unit back into the hole and hold it in place with some tape around the edge, and the system worked as normal.

There is also a setting for using it with a tow bar tongue fitted... is that set correctly?

I have just noticed that sometimes mine have the same intermittant problems too. I noticed the other day while reversing that there was no noise or beeps at all .. Back to the dealer me thinks ..

Tock.

I have two vehicles with the parking sensors and what I found is if the trailer connection was dirty or had grime it in the sensors thought a trailer was connected so disabled itself. It is important to keep them clean.

Thanks guys. Keep 'em coming. A large part of our last cruise (last weekend) was a great road but was in terrible state. Was bumpy the entire way. Maybe something has happened from that

as stated above do you have a tow bar fitted
there is a setting for the factory towbar
but if you fit an aftermarket tow bar it cause problems
ie. the system thinks you have a trailer hooked up and turns off

nope, no towbar. I had a look up behind the bumper and it appears that there has been a lot of water and sand and other crap thrown up there. Maybe it is simply that the connectors etc are all encased in crap and need to be cleaned.

If this is the case, then this is a poor design

Mine work totally perfectly. Maybe check the setting in the control panel for the towbar? Do you ever fit a towbar with bike racky thing? Towbar's with attachments, even is it looks like its not near the sensors, make it go spastic.

I am pretty sure that the SS-V goes to the screen in all cases, since new Any VE with the colour screen gets the little picture to go with the beeps. So I assume thats the Calais and SS-V, not sure about the Belina with extra's? 3 in the Sportwagon range have the full audio display, the SS-v and both (V6/8) Calais'es

Pretty likely a plug has come partially out. Did have this as a issue with the VY Equipe. On that it was under the carpet in th eboot, alongside the spare well and in front of the RHS tailights. Not so much loose, rather a poor join with broken cable that sometimes did not 'short' on itself.
