All I can suggest is that you would want a VERY good idea of the work and cost required to repair it if you go ahead.
I've stunned people into silence quoting on parts many times, and that's even before thousands of dollars of labour are added!
Often repairable write offs are best left alone, unless you are either "in the trade", or you regularly have a beer with someone who is...

My advice would be to stay away. Do not consider it at all.

cheers, jsut confirming that the car is repaired and registared. What sort of damage do you need to write a vehicle off, obviously more than the car value but are we talking big big hits or just run of the mill damage??

I once had a Rep Write Off... It was fresh water damage and minor. The owner had only bought the car 3 months earlier.

Some aren;t too bad, but thery all have that reputation!

i wouldnt consider it mate... big risk involved which with a few $$ saved surely would not be worth it

as said depends what it is, it doesnt have to be crashed to be a repairable write off, some scum bags decided they wanted my custom interior more than me, so they decided to strip my car in my "secure" car park. insurance declared it as a repairable write off as it would cost to much and take to long to repair the vehicle. so depends on what happened, you could get a bargain, you never know, but remember its always classed as a repairable write off so if you want to sell it down the track, and they have a look and see, they might also get turned off by the idea of it a repairable write off

Doesn't have to be huge damage to be a write-off. Ask the seller if it's been crashed and see how honest they are. In order to register it they should still have receipts for all work done and should have photos as well so get your hands on those. You should also get a professional to check over all the repairs thoroughly. If it's all above board it should be ok, more cars than you'd expect have had work done and more often than not the person buying car is kept in the dark.

thanks for the input guys, im giving it a miss, it wasn't that cheap anyway (19,700), just looked like a nice car. But theres other fish in the sea. And as you say, ill be stuck with the liability of a written off car when i come to sell.

Cheers
