Hi everyone
Merry Christmas...I have a 2006 WM Caprice and I recently had a problem with the ventilation system where it sounded like a flap kept opening and closing. There was also a "grinding" noice coming from behind the centre consol. I now hear a knocking/ticking noise coming from around the gear stick area - it is audible when the ventilation system is turned off as well. Interestingly, the air-conditioning was never cold though now I have these stupid noises it is so cold - makes we wonder if there was a blockage somewhere and now this flap works it works???
Holden suggest the grinding noise and opening/closing flap is a boot cover requiring replacement for which there is a service notice on - of course they have none in WA so on order. I can't work out the knocking/ticking noise - has anyone else experienced this?
I hope I have explained it properly...
Thanks Paul :xmas::xmas:

does it make the noise on tz , dz or sz mode on the climate control panel settings, only thing i can think of thats centre console and air con related, when its making the noise switch between the tz-dz-sz modes and see if it makes any difference

I get a noise from the gear stick area, turns out the lever rubs slightly when accellerating and braking - worse if I rest my hand on the gear stick. I can force it to make the noise by rocking the gear lever back and forward (no more than half a mm). Although this is more of a rubbing, squeak type noise.
I also get the opening/closing sound, sounds like it comes from behind the radio?

Thanks Spanz it appears to make the noise no matter what selection is made. There seems to be once noise which is ventilation related coming from behind the radio as you rightly suggest and now the other noise which Clubred reffered to seems to come from around the gear stick/electric window controls - I wonder if there is an electrical fault with the window controls as you hear it if the car is moving/stopped. Might try pulling the fuse and see if that stops it.
Appreciate your help guys...will let you know if I fix it as if this fails I am out with the axe as it is driving me NUTS!!!!
Thanks Paul

Hi everyone
Yay.....they finally acknowledged there was a bloody noise today and it appears to be coming from the auto a/c module in the dash specifically the dial which controls the auto temp. This has been driving me nuts as all I hear is the ongoing "ticking" type noise and the head Mech was drving it out of the wrokshop and heard it too. So they have ordered a whole new panel and will replace it in a week so I am told.
I can now cancel the kid who was going to torch the heap of crap for me....yes, as I said, it was driving me NUTS.
I feel better now I have that off my chest...now, about my wife....
