sons V6 manual. as the clutch takes up the friction point it gets a whirring sound like slipping plastic gears ( closest noise i can think of). quite loud. getting worse, gets it when stationary to move off, and on up changes but not down changes. oh and it doesn't slip when driving but the take up point is rather high, but has been since the new one went in with a new slave.

clutch isn't that old maybe 10,000 K.

its not the bearing as it doesn't do it until 1/2 to 3/4 up. i'm thinking leaking rear main and has oil on the plate. never heard such a weird sound from a clutch.

going to have to pull it out to know for sure, but any ideas what he will need to buy before?
maybe someones had this before?

hey, my dad has a vt v6 manual, and he ha the same noise, it turned out to be the pressure plate its a twin plated thing as you may know and you just replace the whole clutch kit and its fixed the 2 plates slip a bit but dont cause your clutch to slip, and thats what your noise is, eventualy the twin plate thing wil come apart

it had the whole kit from holden 10,000 K ago.

if they only last that long will get aftermarket instead.

twin plate? do you mean get one or they have one? Or they are single in 2 pce plate design with rivets.
could be coming apart he's probably has done an odd burnout, not many his tyres last ok for K's. mine wear just a fast.
i don't recall its looking twin?

you saying the clutch plate is separating?

Are you certain it's not the throw out bearing? Was it replaced with clutch?

Cheers

yeah throw out was done.

if it was that i'd expect it to make a noise fully depressed but it doesn't, only on the friction point.

i'll check back in a few days for more comments going away shortly for a few days.

I think he might have been referring to a dual mass flywheel if it has one?
