for the vy/vs series, what does the auto temperature button do ?

if i do use the a/c, i always just put it on the lowest temperature setting and thats about it.

i tried it today for the 1st time, but all that it did was make the fan faster, put on recycle, and changed from face and foot to face only...

im pretty sure it just sets the system up to cool or warm the cabin to the desired temp the best way possible and keep it that way.
An example would be a 40 degree day and the cars been sitting in the sun and you turn it on 17 degrees fan speed one which is obviously gonna take ages to cool the car. the system on auto will put the fan at a higher speed to circulate air throughout the cabin quicker.

Youll notice that if its hot and you put it cold it will recirc but as soon as you put the temp back up it will turn recirc off so to pull the hot air inside. I barely ever use it because it always puts the a/s on when most of the time all i want it a fan.

Auto provides all control to be automatic. If you overide mode for example fan will still be auto. Same if u overide fan, mode will still be automatic. The temp set will try to get cabin temp to that set the best way it is programmed to do so. This is a pet hate of mine where say it's 40 in the cabin people still set it to 17. Where if u just leave it on 24 it will still go flat out but will turn itself down when temp gets closer to desired. In fact 17 and 32 are overide temps. So even if it's 5 in the cabin and u set 17 it will still pinch out cold. Set it to 17.5 and of will heat until 17.5. Moral of the story use climate control for what it's meant for and set it to a comfortable temp and you won't have to ever touch it.

Agreed... people, if you have climate control, RTFM. It's a really smart system - you won't get better results by adjusting the controls yourself. Leave it on Auto, set temp between 20-24 (depending on personal preference), and let it do its job. If you don't want the A/C running, press the A/C button (while in Auto mode) to disable it. It will then use fresh air or the heater if required, to maintain the desired temp.

Yep that's it. The only interactivity I have is when setting the screen to defog, or overiding the A/C from coming in when its really cold out and you don't need it. Other than that its Full AUTO @ 24c all year round.

It is interesting though (at least in my VX) that the system in full auto mode always has the compressor on, so I tend to use the A/C OFF override button too.
Doesn't change the temp inside if it's cool but I don't see any reason to have the compressor on and the thermo fans roaring if you don't need it.

I tend to not like too much heating though, so I set mine at about 18-19 degrees when it's cold and about 22-24 when it's hot.

tried it out today, its ok, but i like having face + feet. the auto seems to keep it on face only.

also, i love warm weather. its all 4 windows down for me. melbourne is cold enough as it is, so on a hot day, theres no way im going to try to make it cooler with a/c :D

You know you can just over-ride the aspects you want?
ie set the temp you want, set to face and feet, then let it do it's thing.
