Hi Guys,

With my WH i went the dual 2.5 inch sports exhaust and pacemakers. While it gave massive gain over stock and also saved me a bit in terms of better fuel economy, it was too loud for me and droned - in the end the drone / rumble sitting at lights used to annoy me.

I have had the WK since Jan, because it has the dual exhaust from the factory I think it goes as well as my WH did with the pacemakers / sports exhaust. Now for some reason I have started to toy with the idea of putting pacemakers on it but leaving the standard exhaust in place. Will it get noisier doing that and am I going to see much gain? Or is it a relatively useless excercise? As I said I don't want more noise, but if I could get a little bit more power / fuel economy that would be a bonus. I've done a search and found some stuff on her re WK's, however seems to be around statesmans - the Caprice supposedly has the sports exhaust from factory thats why it makes 10kw more.

Appreciate feedback.

The twin exhaust WK exhaust was pretty much just a twin VY exhaust with a bit of extra length and different tips. Still plenty of restriction there.
For what you want, I would perhaps suggest this product from the makers of HM Headers, and a number of HSV's own genuine systems.

I have one of their stainless systems on the Monaro, as I wanted the benefits, including excellent fitment quality, but without any of the drone or the police attention. It is fully Db legal, so not loud at all, just a nice bit of extra note.
You will always gain much more from a cat back system on these than fitting headers/extractors.

My industry status obtained it directly from HPX for distributor pricing, which was a substantial discount. For this reason, I can't really answer that, as it wont be representative of the market prices.

apologies for hijacking but i also have an exhaust question, which also relates to something you mentioned....

currently i only have a 2.5" (may be 2.25 not sure) cat back aftermarket system that had been fitted when i baught the car (not sure of brand or the brand of mufflers if different, i know nothing about it). altho it doesnt sound too bad, its a tad quiet (has some noise but not that nice V8 roar). I have prevoiusley spoken to an exhaust place and his recommendation was to cut out the centre mufflers and replace them with hotdogs, and keep the rear muffler as is.

my question is, what are peoples experience/ideas/thoughts/advice with this setup in terms of loudness, note and droning especially is my concern being an auto????

Thanks.

Chris.
