Just wondering does anyone know why there are no sa, nsw, vic etc. sections with spotted and stuff like that in there, just been a member of a few car forums and this is the first one ive seen without a spotted thread.
Just curious if this has been brought up before.

The validated section has a separate area for each State. If you want to start a Spotted thread, create one in the Tar Pit...

Such threads can be good for knowing other members around your area, but unfortunately there's a negative side to it as well.
Some examples of potential issues:
Example 1
User 1: "I saw a sweet black VY clubby rego XYZ-123 take off hard from the lights in Camden the other day. Man that thing is so loud it rattled my windows. Sweet Ride! anyone on here?"
User 2: "Yeah mate, that was me. she's got a nice note to it now"
A short time later User 2 conveniently receives a notice in the mail to attend a EPA station for a noise and emissions check
Example 2
User 1: "I saw a sweet black VY clubby rego XYZ-123 take off hard from the lights in Camden the other day. Anyone on here?"
User 2: "Yeah mate, that was me."
User 1: "You f*#%ing A$%^&, you cut me off"
Example 3
User 1: "I saw a sweet black VY clubby rego XYZ-123 parked in Smith St in Camden the other day. Anyone on here?"
User 2: "Thanks a lot you p#$%^! Thanks to your post my wife found out about my girlfriend and she's taken the Clubby in the divorce!"

You dont write that surely no one is that stupid.
You could just be like a seen _____ (someones username if u know it) at somewhere car looks sweet
or
I spotted a nice red vy clubby in _____ area anyone on here.
Your not spose to put a full discription, as for number plates on rexnet we have never had a problem with this, ive never heard of police or anything bad happening from post up saying i spotted MADREX today looked really nice etc.
And theres like 100 pages just in SA alone and never had one bad thing happen from it, obviously if you said i seen HSV123 do a massive burnout down ___ street then that would be very stupid but surely no-one is stupid enough to do this. Quoting a number plate wont do anything what do u think are in alot of the pics on this site if your stupid enough to say something above then i agree it aint smart.

We've been down that road before ... yes they are. One of the very reasons we developed a validated section in the first place. Unfortunately we then had some trusted members with a grudge against other members handing over private videos/mod details from that section etc to Police

Holdens and HSVs are too common a vehicle in Australia to be too vague with your description.
e.g. I saw a nice red VE SS in Ann Street in the city yesterday .... there were probably 60 red VE SS's that drove through the city yesterday
as for number plates on rexnet we have never had a problem with this, ive never heard of police or anything bad happening from post up saying i spotted MADREX today looked really nice etc.
Again, we've been down that road, and Yes, it does happen. Quite often we Mods are asked to take down photos people have posted from cruises until the plates can be blanked out for certain cars after the owners complained.
Some members have had knocks on the door from the blueys from details posted on the forums
Quoting a number plate wont do anything what do u think are in alot of the pics on this site

Not all the answers :), but I've been around this place enough years to have seen all the goings on over that time. Those that have been here for a little while will remember the Road Kills section we had. People often posts things without thinking what "could" happen if the info got into the wrong hands. The contents of that section on this and other forums, and the subsequent media and Police attention to the contents of such sections resulting in us taking it down to protect people from their own stupidity.

Ahh yes the Kills Section! Was good once you got past the cobwebs and read the kills from 2002.. And 'Red's little L plate sprint....
Can I join the spotted thread.. I want to be like the cool kids..
How can you have a spotted thread for a forum with so many members? How would you identify other cars? I know a few off hand but yeh.. Who really cares?
That's why you have meets or organize bbq's so people can meet and greet.
