do you think if i raised the front TEINS of the maloo 10mm it would help MUCH with the bottoming out on medium size pot holes and road joins i looked in to geting stiffer springs on the front and was told $450 fitted and would make the ride harder witch I DONT wont, they were set up with 100mm road clearance when fitted fronts are wound down to lowest setting rear is about 20mm from lowest ,rear doesn't bottom out

no takers on this ??

no opiniones on this ??

Ive just bought a maloo myself and im looking at lowering it using the teins as well ,

NO the ride is a LOT better then stock it rides like a luxo around town but when i get on the hiway it bottoms out very easily over small bumps and joins it the road from GLADSTONE SOUTH it is fine but farther north you get the worse the roads get with a lot of reapers and joins my be it is just to low in the front

The tiens are noticable harder than stock, but you don't really pay attention to it, as the handling is so much improved. The adjustable dampening helps if you put it on the softest settings.
I assume that your dampeners are whats bottoming out atomicmaloo? If so, lifting the car up slightly will increase the distance between the piston inside the strut and the "bottom" of the strut case. Bumps will still cause the same travel in the suspension, but the increased clearance in the strut should prevent bottoming out. The amount you would have to lift the front would depend on how much travel there is in the suspension when you hit these potholes and joins. Hope this helps.

this is why i chose pedders coils... never had a issue.. and really cant help on urs.. good luck with it tho.. another 450 on top isnt worth it

Not to brand bash or anything, but I chose to avoid pedders, due to some incompetent employee's. I decided i'd be safer going with a forum sponser (autotechnique). After having my coilovers done by them, it was pleasant to discover that they had replaced all nuts correctly, which is more than I can say for pedders...

Speaking of useful posts...

I have never had a problem with my teins bottoming out. I usually end up with my rims hitting in the wheel arch instead. I imagine that atomicmaloo must be running some very low profile tyres to allow him to get his car as low as it is, as mine are only 2/3 of maximum lowering ability, and i occasionally scrape wheel to arch anyhow
I sincerely doubt that the bottoming out of the shockers is due to the inadequacy of the coilovers.

the 100lbs increase spring rates on the front is barely noticable if at all.
i got them on mine and cant really tell the difference.

also did u have the shortened softer bump stops put in the front too????

The only and I mean only gripe I have with Tein Super Streets is the lack of individual Bound and Rebound adjustment which is whats causing your problem Atomic. Next time your planning on taking this section of road, it might be worth adjusting the shocks up 4 or 5 clicks to combat the nose diving and reduce suspension compression.

The cause is that on wavey roads, the shock is still trying to combat the bounce from the previous bump in the road when the next one hits so as the shock is trying to extend, it is again forced back up resulting in the sensation you are feeling.

The only other thing I have found to solve this is reduce road speed, which gives the shocks time to deal with the bounce before hitting the next one.

If anyone has driven the road between Guyra(just north of Armidale, NSW) and Ebor(North East of Armidale, NSW) they will know what I mean. The road feels like a cattle grid at 100Km/h but at 90km/h it is a pleasure to drive.

you are wright about driving a bit slower around 80k it is a lot better BUT i was stopping every 20k or so and adjusting the shocks up to the hardest setting and it still bottomed out at 100ks i dont think there is enough travel left it the shocks on low setting and it just hits the BUMP stops even though they are the small ones

Speak to the guys at Fulcrum, you can have shortened shocks fitted to stop the problem you have. I had exactly the same issue with Teins on my VZ as well at the lowest possible height, the cost of having the Teins reshocked saw me raise the front only around 15mm or a bit less and thus ended the front end going to the bump stops.

so are you saying that you just raised it 15mm rather then redoing the shocks ??
