View Full Version : My G-Tech run
Super SS

Hi I did a g-tech run tonight on Delco's old g-tech (thanks again delco) and ran a 14.46 @ 159.8 km/h.
I have 152rwkw and eased it off the line to avoid wheelspin (didn't stall it up at all).
How accurate do you think this time is to what I'd do at the plex?
should I be running faster/slower than this for my power with a VT super 6?
before I go to the plex i'm trying to work out the best way to launch (so I dont look like a fool) and my g-tech seems like the perfect tool to help with this. should I stall it up to say 1500 and have some wheelspin or is babying it off the line the best way?
on Tuesday next week I'm getting a 3.4" pulley with a lower temp thermostat installed, how much time should I shave off with those 2 mods?

exhaust, HPC coated extractors, CAI, k&n, ported throttle, ngk iridium plugs and a shift kit (which I know wont help the power)

Mate don't worry about looking like a fool, street meets are a chance for drag racing virgins to mix with experienced racers :driving: just get down there and have a plan in ya head. Drive around the water box if you don't do a burn out, T/C off, stage the car slowly and leave hard on the last amber with out stalling it up. If that works OK with out wheel spin, and that will depend on track conditions, tyres, pressure, how much and where the car is making power etc etc etc, then try stalling it up. If it spins try dropping some air out. Do the rounds in the pits and ask any Q's you have, the sheila that usually srcutineers the cars can help. Put the G tech in and let us know how you went against the track timing.
It's all about having fun :burnout: in ya car

:yup:
When you hit the tree you will notice its alot different then stalling it up in the street. Don't worry about making a fool of yourself.
Practice makes perfect!

Thats a large gain with an exhaust, ported throttle and plugs. Did you test each mod on the dyno?

yup.
was about 136 after exhaust
144 after k&nfilter and CAI
152 with throttle body, plugs and shift kit
it was on D&T performances dyno in Wangarra, not sure how high it reads compared to others dyno's

Phoaaa 14.46 ain't bad for a blown 6 that makes it a theoretical line ball with the VTII SS GenIII Wheels done a time of 14.46. Not a bad terminal speed either nearly 160km/h.
CSV_LS1,
What was yr terminal speed when you done your best time?

Regarding the G-Tech, I also own one and have recently performed some back to back testing on (sorry to have to tell you this), a new XR8 Ford Ute, followed by a Pursuit Ute (290 Boss engine).
Both actually produced almost identical times and speeds, thanks to the difference in weight.
Anyway, as to the accuracy, having used the G-Tech for years, then doing these back to backs and comparing them with what Motor Magazine achieved with their highly accurate Correvit, the new runs simply confirmed all prior results.
In a nutsehll, the G-Tech is always optomistic, typically by around 2-3 tenths and by around 54-5 mph (6.4 to 8 km/h).
I hope this helps.
Oh, regarding feeling like a dick at the drags, my only advise is that you run your own 'race'. In other words, if you aren't quite ready when the lights go green, wait until you are (within reasonable constraints) and then go for it. The bottom line is that your reaction time has absolutely no effect on the final ET.
