Found this forum in the hunt for info on upgrades for my Captiva.

I cant find anywhere that does performace upgrades of any sort, this is a 3.2L V6 alloytech which I understand is the base for many variants of the Alloytech, but not a dickie bird on anyone thats done upgrades on the Captiva.

I have built my own cold air intake system with aftermarked filter as nobody makes a replacement (K&N type) flat filter, this has worked well, but I want more...

1) Exhaust upgrades: anyone in Melbourne that can recomend a custom pipe builder that knows what they are doing? I dont want a big resonating droning nightmare, maybe just some replacement tail units? all advice welcome,

2) Chip/mapping tuners in Melbourne that are knowledgeable enough to re-chip/map igition based on mods made.

Thanks in advance

Muzza, any decent tuner with Hp Tuners and worth their salt should be able to help you out with the tune side of things. Exhaust would be full custom Id imagine due to the non performance type vehicle that the Captiva is. Ask around for those who are reputable in manufacturing custom stuff and then go ask them about it. I think you might be the pioneer with this one.

I think you are right about the pioneering bit HRT.

I had the middle baffle box removed yesterday and put a much smaller unit on, it sounds a little better, but the back pressure change has made a difference to the auto box changing, not sure if its better yet.

Sorry, whats an HP Tuner?

HP Tuners is a software tool that allows editing and customisation of the Cars computer, which can change things like the shift points in your auto box, and the engine timing etc.

Check the Sponsors section on the forum. THis would be a good place to start your research.

WHere did you get the exhaust changed over at?

Right, gotcha and thanks for that.

I had the zorst done at The Muffler Man in Prahran, have also found someone in Ferntree Gully that specialises in HP tuning and is able to do the Capy, waiting for a quote, so might be onto something here...
