07 KTM 250 SX,piston question

hi can any 1 tell me how often as in hours should i change piston and ring on a 2007 ktm 250sx,bike has done about 30hours would it be due yet?
always had 450 4strokes so not sure on the 2stroke.
any info would be great.

I would guess its overdue by now .. though it also depends how hard you ride it too.

My son races MX on a Yammie YZ125 2-stroke and we do his piston about every 15 hours.

Its recommended every 5 races but that would be way too $$$ for us. Most the aftermarket pistons (Wiseco, Vertex) say they are only good for 10 hours officially.

Some people change the ring/s and do the piston every 2nd time .. but once I've got the head off I just do it all.

KTMs (at least the smaller ones) are notorious for seizing if they don't get well looked after too.
