Hi! Now i've heard of places repairing scratched rims and guttered rims etc, now i've got scratches on mine (who doesnt) but the previous owner used some shitty ass rim cleaner which stained it.. i would really like to fully restore my rims (instead of buying new ones, i like the stock ones.. plus i just bought new tyres)

any places that do it? and is it expensive?

Hey mate! Thanks for the quick reply, but I'm finding it difficult to find these guys online.. got any contact information for me?

I also sent an email to http://www.advancedalloys.com.au for a quote.. so hopefully i get a reply tomorrow sometime.. it's sad cos i can get my car so washed and shiney, and my rims are visually holding me back.. and i can't exactly afford thousands of dollars for a new set

I slightly guttered one rim on my VZ SS which had VYI R8 rims on it. Only had one mark about 2 cm long and another a bit further round about 1cm long. I went around to about half a dozen wheel repair places on this side of Melbourne and Advanced were the most expensive!! Most places wanted $130 - $140 and they wanted $150. The best price I found was at Barloworld Holden in Mulgrave where they have a shop with rims. I gather they actually use one of the repair places I'd been to anyway (from memory Ace). If you want the email address of the guy to contact there PM me.

ouch i got quoted the other day $50-70 per rim thats all scratches taking out primed/resprayed and tougher clear coat.

$70 was for shadow chrome rims
$50 was for alloys.

prices from local panel beater that does a power of them. jobs may vary so may the price.

cheers

You guys are lucky. I live in stupid NZ where the guy has estimated about $400 for a GTS wheel to be repaired :flipoff: I just thought screw that... I'll wait til I run out of rubber and buy some 22's :smilesandbanana:

all they do is file the gutter rash off and file the whole rim edge to make it look the same, sand it, prime it, paint it. same with scratch spokes etc not much involved...

seems like it's easier said than done mate.. personally i would go ahead and do it myself, but im sure they perfect all 4 wheels in half a days work where as if i tried, i'd probably **** something up and take me a week to do it all
