View Full Version : engine warning light in VX II SS
I have done a breif search, but nothing has matched my problem (that I have looked at).
The engine warning light comes on when;
It's hot (30+ degrees), when stuck in peak hour traffic (on a hot day, when air con is on).
Tonight, the light stayed on the entire trip home (46km), when trying to turn cruise control, nothing happened.
Temperature guage is showing normal temperature.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what it might be? Or what I should check?
I will obviously need to take this back to the Holden dealer where I bought the car, but that's over 100km from me and havent got time at the moment

Aside the light is the vehicle behaving normal? Recommend a pcm reset by removing the fuse & replacing if ok all done if not then visit your local sponsor or dealer to diagnose the problem.
Cheers

yeah it seems to be behaving fine.. ill try resetting the pcm and see how we go..

Only way to know for sure what it is is to get the code read by Holden or someone with an OBD reading device / PCM modifying software.
My advice ... book in to see Chev at Chev's performance. He should be able to sqaure you away.

It will be your Oil Pressure Sensor or your O2's as this is a very common problem. Although as others have said unfortunatly you need to have the codes run which will only take a few seconds.
An OPS will set you back around $150 and it's located at the back of the engine. If your changing it yourself then go to Repco and buy a specialised socket which is around $15 bucks and it will make the job so much easier. Should only take you a few minutes with the right tools.

Unfortunatly a dealer will probably charge you $50 just to run the codes. Pop in and see a sponsor, chances are they will run the codes for you at no charge. This will give you a good chance to speak with them regarding a tune also.:stick:

Had a vxss a few years ago and it intermittently lit up the "engine warning light". Took it to the dealer and they replaced both O2 sensors. And problem fixed.

Same thing happens to my vy ss. "Check Engine" warning and then goes away straight away. Only happens on idle but car is behaving fine as hell.
still need to try resetting the PCM, but the light came on this morning as soon as i hit slow traffic on the western highway :(

Good to see another member to the LS1 capital:goodjob:
As mentioned drop in and see Phonsy on Reserve road, book your tune at same time  , or local holden dealer (alan mance) are good.
Get along to one of the dinners and meet some of the local members

Hey mate,
Def sounds like the high pressure oil sender faulty.
My old vu ss ute had these symptoms also. Cost a fair bit to get holden to do the job so either do it yourself or book a sponsors time:lol:
Wouldnt hurt to get the oxy sensors checked either way as could also be them.
Best of luck mate,
Andy.
Looks like I might be paying my first visit to GM Motorsport me thinks...
went to GM motorsport, and its the O2 sensors!
going back later on to talk to Phonsy about tune etc as he wasnt there when i popped in :)
