The only thing VW need to do to make the GTi an absolute ripper is make it AWD. They have nailed the rest...

They do, it's called the R32

The GTiR is coming. Apparently.

I have driven a Pirelli, wasn't overly fussed to be honest, not much different from a chipped base GTi (seats are cool, and the P graphic that makes the alloys is corny as)..

The only good thing about this Pirelli GTI is that it gets the Audi S3's higher spec'd engine. It still lacks an LSD.

The upcoming Mk6 GTI will get an LSD though. I've got a 200kW/430nM chipped Mk5 GTI and there's a real art to putting that power down off the line without an LSD.

The active chassis technology in the new GTI should be interesting though.

Well if you were refering to a small, front wheel drive 4 cylinder with turbo, then I guess VW may need to bring the R32 chassis onto the Golf.

If a Golf sized AWD vehicle with VW on it, then R32

If Golf sized AWD, 4 cylinder turbo then go Skoda!

Thats what i was trying to say, however you claimed they already had it with their R32 platform, my point was i was referring to a AWD GTI variant.

Skoda, no thanks, might go ok, but look like poo...

Cheers

R32 is a V6 NA... And no, you can't get amazing gains from them.

There's always the TT..

There's always the TT.. LOL, all my references to the R32 are in response to Carver3... I know the R32 is a N/A V6.. If you read from the start you'll see what i mean.. I stated that VW need to bring out a AWD GTi, Carver stated they already did with the R32.... and so on.....

I was referring to good gains on the GTi's, not the R32's. .

If you want hypo power and 4 wheel grip you'd just buy an Audi S3. Styling is not as exciting as the GTI/R32 though.

Im a big fan on Audi's, my wife is trying to convince me that we need a Q7. Cheers

I still reckon the Skoda RS is better value.

Given that the Golf is one of the most conservatively styled cars on the road, that's really saying something! But you're right, the A3/S3 is the most generic looking hatchback on our roads today - apart from the front end, there is just no stand out feature of its styling and nothing to attract your interest.
