Hi everybody

I bought a 2004 WK Statesman the other day, but the satnav disc wasn't in the case (or player). I contacted my friendly Holden dealer and was informed that a new disc was around $500 :bawl: and it was only the 2004 database. I then contacted Sensis by email and they said 'go see your friendly Holden dealer'. Sigh.

I had a look at the prices of the discs on the Sensis website, and they all seem to be around $275, but Holden aren't actually listed. Does anyone know what disc will work in my car? The player is a VDO-Dayton PC5400. Many thanks in advance.

Despite this little problem, it's soooo nice to be back behind the wheel of a Statesman after 5 years driving a diesel 4WD.

Cheers, Chris from sunny Alice Springs.

Mate I have the same GPS system as you (vdo 5400). Our machines take the CIQ software. The earlier models i.e. 5000 & 5100 take the carin software. If you go to this link, the disc you want is the first one (version 15 CIQ).

Thanks very much for the quick reply, I'll order it this week. I've got a Garmin portable as well, which I'll donate to the missus' car. How does the VDO compare to the Garmin, if you've used both?

Cheers, Chris

I purchased a V14 disc from the Holden dealer early last year for $505 only so I could claim it on my lease. It was excalty the same disc as the Whereis Sensis disc which were selling at that time for $365.

Surely there's one online somewhere you could 'trial' before shelling out?

Years ago I updated my VX (Phillips CarIn) to v12 by copying the satnav CD from a mates BMW, don't know what brand his satnav system was but it worked fine.

It is a complete install $3300 i think last time i was quoted for a HSV. They put in a DVD data player and GPS gear in the car. Change the buttons on the stearing wheel and software upgrade. Takes most of a day to do...

**** lol, they can keep that, the tom tom does the job

Too right

Ridiculous price to install and then even more ridiculous for map upgrades

Its a lot of money for the convenience of having it in dash

Has anyone tried to make a "backup" of the upgrade disk?

Yeah keen to hear about the v15 version...

I still have the v12 in mine, does the v15 include country towns and the like ?? still weighing up the worth of getting the upgrade.

Also the glare at daytime is terrible, screen in totally unreadable...

Does anyone have access to a V15 disk?

If so I'd be happy to back it up for them....

Same here (I'm the OP!). Sent the form off and never got a reply back. Ended up updating the map for my Garmin and leaving the in-car system on trip computer. I've heard the in-car system isn't really great either, but I'd like it to work...

Cheers, SLuggy

I think everyone should get involved and "donate" some coin to the op so he can get a new version. Of course due to the cost of such an item he should them make heaps of copies and host it online for safe keeping. Perhaps even send a copy to each person that donated for safe keeping.. Just in case of course. :)

Just out of interest, my wife has a Lexus RX330, with the inbuilt GPS. THey use the DENSO/WHEREIS maps.

I can confirm that the V15 Denso is "copyable". My wife has V15 in her car (with eastlink etc), and I have copyed the disk and stored the original in a safe place, and the backup works perfectly fine in her car. 100% OK.

I have no idea if the holden systems use the same as lexus/toyota/ford etc.

I should also add that this copy I made has also been tested in Ford and Toyota vehicles and works without issue at all.

I saw this page the other day, from what I can gather you pay about $2.00 to download and burn a copy?:goodjob:
Anyone used one of these sites?

theres no harm in copying the disc and sending it to someone to test is there?copying of VE Sat Nav disc and testing on same system as genuine disc to ensure backup was fine resulted in the backup disc not working :(

Hey Sluggy,

I was just reading your post on the VDO DAYTON in car GPS, I recently bought a late '04 model caprice with this GPS fitted, and is carrying a 'whereis v.10 CIQ' disc.

What disc did you end up getting and did you need any update software etc? I really want to update as the v.10 is next to useless nowadays ! Also would my model also be the PC5400, has a colour screen?

Any help would be great.

Try www.navigationau.com , I haven't used him but a few mates have updated their maps on their Holden IQ GPS systems.
