hey guys, got a question...i kinda sorta put the whole bottle of Lucas upper cylinder lube/fuel treatment in the fuel tank:doh: i didn't read the bottle before hand i just ass*u*med the whole bottle went in......my wife actually picked me on it AFTER i put it in:hide:

i have read the bottle and website and it says you cannot overdose....just wondering if it meant THAT much still wont hurt...

car doesn't seem to bothered, actually is running a little better, just a bit more "rough" at idle.

by the way, the bottle said 100ml per 40 liters of fuel, i put in 1 liter to full tank (i think 75L) car is vy sv8, maffless tune, twin 2 1/2 inch difilipo, custom otr etc

all i ask if anyone has done this before or any techs forsee a problem:)

oh and next time i WILL read the label:fewl:

It won't hurt it a bit but it would be good if your car went for a nice long drive so it can really work away at the carbon deposits Tipping a bit of diesel in will do the same.

cheers

+1 Agreed

That made for an expensive tank of petrol!

I think you will be just fine! A long drive with an occasional stomp on the loud pedal will really help to clean the car out. On the postive, your injectors should be quiet now.

Steve

I would be pulling the spark plugs out and be giving them a clean

Was talking to a person of knowledge last night about these additives and only thing to be carefull with is the stomping on the loud pedal.Depending on your tune be a little carefull with your driving while this is in and listen for the knock and just get off the pedal if you hear it.
Other than that should be ok.
Once gone out the tank you should notice a smoother engine especially at idle and startup.
Best of luck mate,

Cheers,

Andy.

Let us know how you go over the next 4-5 tanks.
Did u add the bottle cos you thought the SV8 wasn't running well?
From what I can see, the bottle is made mostly of petroleum distillates/oil, and some lubricating additives which remove carbon deposits etc etc. but if you guys are the same over there, don't BP Ultimate and Shell V-Power already add a cocktail of these products? On the BP website are some photos of some intake valves after running ultimate for 10k km.
Anyway, if you report better mileage or smoother running, great. If not, you could be just making some really expensive tanks of fuel.
I'd say it's probably a good idea to go for a long drive and top up along the way to dilute the stuff (only since you've gone quite a bit over the recommended concentration).
Let us know how it all goes :)

It's basically diesel that he has put in his motor which won't hurt it a bit. I was looking at a similar product this morning and saw it contained 95% hydrocarbons and 3% Napthalene which I believe is a hydrocarbon. A lot of the petrol cleaner additives are just 25 cents of diesel and always have been.

not according to the specs

Lucas Fuel Treatment is for petrol, diesel fuel and LPG. It contains no alcohol, solvents, kerosene, diesel fuel or anything
else that would be useless or harmful to engines. Low sulphur diesel fuel and reformulated petrols have had the
polymers removed from them, not because the polymers were harmful but because they were attached to the aromatics
(fumes) in the fuels. In their zest to rid our air of petrol and diesel fumes, our government has stripped our fuel of its main
lubricants and, in the process, a great deal of its power.

should be ok, at least it will have a good cleanout, free up the rings and carbon... i'd use 1/4 to half tank then top it up, then do that again strong to weak should be nice and clean after that

take it to the track once a month you wont have and carbon build ups:)

They are clever but notice they don't say what it does contain .... and that it is a combustible hydrocarbon . It would be so close to diesel it isn't funny. years ago when they had to put the ingredients on the cans they all said petroleum distalates in tiny writing now they don't have to tell you whats in it.

Adding a litre of diesel in your tank before going on a long trip will give the top end a good clean out but don't do it if your just banging around town.

I prefer to keep em tuned on the lean side and run good fuel no carbon deposits then.:)
