Thought this was funny in a way. Why would you take one there.
According to the description, the exhaust is off and its a manual. But I recon its auto as the shifts are slow.? but then It shifts pretty hard for an auto?
It appears to beat the AU Falcon it was against.

Sounds like a manual with some loss or traction and ordinary gear changes.
Ah, some might laugh and point but hats off and good on him for being prepared to give it a crack and having a go. :goodjob:

its a twin turbo magna lmao 1 would think it would run faster than that
but go job NEVER UNDER ESTIMATE MAGNA'S there just as quick as
commodore v6's and with some work they can be unstoppable
but the front wheel drive is its down fall.....
still cant beat the feeling of a V8

I'm sorry, you said all that stuff but all I can see is 'Magna's are shit' :jester:
Must just be the way my brain interprets things.

I vaguely remember one at Willowbank some years ago on a T&T hitting the wall.
Also there was that one from NT, the numberplate was BOOYA. loads of cash spent on it big turbo, decent HP, show car. I do have a video of it burning to the ground though, ruptured fuel line. felt bad for the bloke

15.2 is pretty fast really for a 6 banger.
There was a full track prep'd Magna at Wakefield park last time I was there. Was very slow all day (must have been well over 1:15?), but certainly looked the part with its light weight battery, roll cage, stickers, semi comp's, suspension and massive camber dialed in.
You know how cheap these things are though? $5K for a decent one (my wifes work car)! 10 seconds behind the wheel and you can see why they are worth the price of a set of 22" wheels and tyres, suspension is rubbish, fwd is useless, turning circle of a b double, and the gear box is the biggest heap of shit in the universe :spew: They do go good though.

One word MAGNA
That sounded farrked !
I have one (wagon) as a work car.
Good bits -
-Surprising V6 commodores at the traffic light nationals
-Very reliable (so far)
Bad Bits -
-THE worst turning circle
-Torque steer on demand
-Handles like a tinnie
-no one takes you seriously !

HAHA Magna... There is a guy kicking round over here with a supercharged late model one. It had 450hp, got 7L per 100k's and never had any problems with torque steer if you believed the owner.

A Fagna? I was under the impression the V6 ones werent too bad. I've often wondered what the AWD one was like but it still has an east-west engine so that was enough of a put-off for me.

Yeah ditto...
My wife has a Magna and I tried to encourage her to come give it a go the last time we had a private day at Western Sydney, but she didn't want to because she was afraid she would be laughed at. Sadly it appears she may have been right. Shame, she may have enjoyed herself...

I had one for quite some time and could not agree more especially the surprises at the traffic light grand prix. "P" platers with the lowered V6 commodores getting beaten by a stock Magna was priceless. I finally got used to the torque steer after about 2 years. Now if only my VZ's V6 and trannie were as good as the manga and you'd have a pretty decent car.

Underated car imo......at 6 to 7K ex auction for a low K 2004/5 model 6 pot these oddities make for a safe sound family transporter......For 1/4 mile stints..no..imho Low 15's does not cut it ....BUT  remember 15.5 was all a good *stock* VS SS 5L would produce if those Holden 5L owners will be honest.

Well, Mitsubishi's own avertising in 1998 - 99 stated that the Magna V6 was a V8 Killer! :1peek:
That was until the Gen 3 VTII came along. Those ads quietly dissapeared when that happened.
Hows this for a smokeshow

The magna's gear box is a total and utter heap of crap. Its harsh, it changes erratically, its rough... VY/VX/VZ trannie kills the Manga's auto easily, come to think of it, my old VS Auto was much smoother. Unless the 3 Magna's they have at work all have dud gear box's

The missus has a 99 sports.
Fully engage clutch and roll along at low speed then mash without re clutching and the thing sits there and spins. Huge 1/2 spins.....and.....thats about it.
Need a 747 runway to chuck a u turn, torque steer city, and shitty 5 speed box. Also revs pretty high in 5th gear at 110.
But, compare these to a Camry or similar, and the Fagma shatz all over the toyota version.

I used to have a 3.5-litre V6 Magna and that was surprisingly, well... slow. Definitely not going to surprise anyone.
Although there was a Sprintex Supercharged Magna Ralliart going around Wakefield Park for a while, easily beating XR6 Turbos down the main straight. There was a video on YouTube but I can't seem to find it.
Don't forget there are also a few AWD Magna's getting around which aren't half bad, if you believe the rumours there was a fair bit of Evo in their underpinnings.

I have a TL? 2005 model now for a work car as my 380 is getting fixed.
For what it is, its a great car believe it or not.
It uses stuff all fuel, averages 10l/100 in the Adelaide Hills with spirited driving. It does have some guts to it it believe it or not. The comment in a earlier post about "putting P plated drivers to shame" is very true.
The only thing holding it back that i can see is its crap turning cirle, front wheel drive and its "Fagna" branding lol. I have the 4 speed auto. Its not the best out there, but its not the worst. 1st gear is way too tall however, you can get to about 100km at rev limiter.
They are one of these cars that you would never drive unless you have too, but once you do, you can sort of appreciate it a lottle better.

I'm a bit of a quiet magna fan myself. My missus picked hers up for 11g's 2 years ago with around 100k on the clock. It's a 2003 TS(?), and it actually comes off as pretty sporty. It's a pity that they're front wheel drive, as when you try to launch them they wheel spin easily. Apart from that though, they are an awesome car. Economical, well priced, and not too bad to look at. They're also alot more comfy than a BA falcon to sit in. They also have a really comprehensive trip computer and not a bad interior for the price. Onlly thing that I can fault with them is that the sills are a bit high in the windows. It makes it hard to hang your arm out the window when your cruising. I think mitsubishi was almost starting to figure out the car market before they bought out the 380's. I wouldn't own a 380 "GT" if it was given to me.
I also had a run against a magna at heathcote a month or two ago. I'm pretty sure that it was turbo'd.. Not the best car for drags me thinks. 14.x i think from memory? I think that weight transfer for front wheel drive cars just makes them not worth it for any power mods.
