im looking to replace my vy ss gearbox its 2003 just want input on how hard it would be to do at home and any tips would be a great help.

and watch you don't strain yourself too much, as these are one heavy gearbox to be doing in the driveway.

I had mine in and out the other day. They're not a hard thing to do, like davo said, just watch the weight.. Unfortunately there is no flat balance point on the bottom of the gearbox, so you'll probably need a mate and a decent jack to get the thing back in. The bolts are a bit hard to get to up the top as well, but I found removing the brace at the rear of the box after the tailshaft is removed and allowing the gearbox and engine to tilt slightly downwards allows you to get to the top ones a little easier...
It'd prob's take around 3-5 hours to do if you have all the right tools and help. Not that hard to do in my book. Steve
