hey guys, was just wondering if anyone knows where to find instructions on how to install a clutch. i have looked everywhere on the net for them but cant find anyive currently a vy series 11 ss sedan, mods include
- cai
- 4 in 1 pacemakers
- custom twin 2.5" exhaust with high flow cats
- isky cam 224/227 112 lsa
- isky valve springs
- edit mafless tune
and yes i have been asked why im getting a clutch a million times cuz aparently the standard one should be able to handle the power but it had started to slip before the cam so i can just imagine what it will do after!!
car still in work shop gettin the cam installed, just bought a heavey duty option 3 clutch from mal wood automotive and asked my guy to fit it after the cam but they want to charge me a packet, lets just say half a grand wouldnt give me much change at all! so my self and my mate are going to do it!! we got i fair idea of how to do it but would just like instruction to make sure we do it right.
thanks

Yep I had my stock clutch slipping when I was bolt on only. You can get away with stock if you drive it like a bitch.. But they don't like hard flat shifts hehe.

I don't know of a DIY but I'll try to give you what I know from memory.

Remove Tail shaft from forward coupling and secure it away from the box.
Remove top half of shifter from inside the car.
Disconnect Reverse Sensor
Disconnect Reverse Lockout Plug
Disconnect Speed Sensor
Disconnect Clutch Line
Remove the top left side bell housing bolt first.. (Its the hard one to do)
Position trolley jack or what ever your using to hold the box.. (It aint light)
Remove Remaining bolts
Remove Box by sliding it rear ward first without dropping until the input shaft is clear of the clutch

Your new clutch should come with a clutch plate align tool. If it doesn't you'll need one.

Fit align tool through clutch plate and spigot bearing to hold clutch plate in place.
Remove pressure plate bolts and pressure plate
Remove Clutch plate
Remove Flywheel

Install in reverse taking care to torque accurately.

After install don't rape it straight away.. Wait till your around the corner. O wait you didn't get a Textralia.. Better wait longer.:1peek:
