Strange sound when shifting - no idea what it is

Hey guys, hoping someone might be able to shed some light on to whats going on here..

I went for a bit of a drive this morning and decided to give the car a bit of gas taking off from the lights (with the power button on which makes the auto shift harder) when shifting from 1st hard into 2nd i heard something weird, it sounded like something was slipping (you know that horrid slipping sound that fords make) it only lasted for like 1 second after the gear change, at that same time the oil warning light also came on.

Does anyone know what this could be?

I have tried giving Phonsy a call but I think they must be busy preparing for the jet boats today.

Not enough Transmission Fluid??? or worn clutch plates?

Normal, belt slip. Both mine and my brothers do it. Mostly does it when you give it hard throttle and back off at high rpm.

It's normal for a bit of a screech when shifting from 1st to 2nd. It's got something to do with the water pump pulley (so i've heard) not slowing down quick enough (due to the momentum or the water through the pump), therefore the belt slips on it for a short second.

Belt slip - like the others have said. I regularly give the belt an application of candle wax to help it grip better (just hold a candle against the inside of the belt as the car is idling). However the oil light is a different matter. You need to overfill the sump by approx 500ml - otherwise on hard takeoffs you can lose pressure (as the oil in the sump is forced backwards & away from the pick up).

how did you go with this rub? my vy ss has been doing something similar to this recently. when flogging it(in pwr mode also) just before it shifts to 2nd from 1st i get a slight pause and a similar noise. ended up being belt slip?
