Just wondering if anyone has taken out centre muffler and put hot dogs in? if it opened it up abit or made it to droney?

I'm also interested to see if anyone has done this. I had it done on my VY and it made a nice difference.

I just had 3" exforce put on my VE SS and its great....dont think you need to do anything to it other than enjoy.
I also got 15 rwkw from the 3"......I then put on an OTR and got a mafless tune I am now pushing 247.5 rwkw from stock 204.5rwkw
Very Very Very happy....its so much more power its great...love the zorst note and love the induction noise.....turns heads all over the place.
Interested to. I'm getting full 3 inch sytem put on in a few weeks. I am really fussy with how my exhaust sounds. If I'm not 100% happy with the sound I'll be fitting hotdogs on mine aswell.

I keep melting middle mufflers so i had no choice.I put 4 hot dogs in. Sounds tuff as but is a little droney in an auto. Although the blower sound does cut out most of the drone.:)

I am fussy as well....the 3" xforce sounds very good....get an OTR and the engine sound will help as well....shame your not in QLD I would give you a listen
4 hotdogs. Holy shite. How loud is it? Stupid loud or you can handle it alright. Understand everybody is different. But you know if it's to loud.

Not an Xforce but similar situation. My original KPM 3" had a big centre muffler and droned so they changed it for their newer design system with hotdogs and different rear mufflers - sounds awesome and just a hint of reverberation at low revs under load (not even sure you could call it drone). The rear mufflers are the key to drone, so I'm guessing changing the front part would make it louder but not add drone unless it was already there.

What about taking off the center muffler all together. Will this make it much louder. would it run lean?

It wouldn't run lean and only aftermarket cats/heads may affect this, but not just cutting a muffler out. The consensus would seem to be that it would be a fair bit louder but would also fart and bark and drone. Other things will effect it such as vehicle/mods/auto manual but I imagine the sound would generally be considered loud but not good.
I noticed the dig. I spose better than starting a new thread.

Blue SS is just new so probably hasn't worked out how it all works. Besides, newbies are caught in a bit of a bind. If they just start a new thread to ask a question they get told :search: but if they pull up an older somewhat related thread to ask it in they can get accused of thread mining. Lose/lose.........

Pretty true:rofl: I think digs are the better option. keep it neat and all the information together. But don't you just love reading a thread and then on the 5th page look at the date and go F*** It's three years old!

why are you thinking of changing to hotdogs?
i ask because im thinking of removing the centre muffler and putting some straight pipes on my 3' xforce.

When you put the cam in you will be putting the centre muffler or something back in, the 3" X-Force with a cam is quite loud,
I had a 2.5" took the centre muffler out, then installed a 232/234 cam, had to put the muffler back in, it was just so loud, then went to 3" X-Force and it is a little louder again, driving around in a cammed VE with a 3" and no centre muffler, I think the cops and EPA will be all over you. Put the cam in before you do anything else to your exhaust.

thread mining I know but why bother starting a new thread...
I think my hand is going to be forced of running straight pipe or hotdogs in the middle section of my xforce 2.5" for the ve...
long story short getting fkd around by the guy I brought it off so have everything except centre muffler...
which would be the better option straight pipe or hotdogs ?

The usual complaint with Xforce is that they're too loud in which case straight pipe in the middle will make it even louder and potentially increase drone, though admittedly it's the rear mufflers which affect drone most. Given getting a bit of straight pipe put in should be your cheapest option why not try that first if you're undecided and if too loud/droney add hotdogs? Hopefully you're getting it cheap because I know of people who've picked up new VE Xforce 2.5" m/s catbacks for under $500.

what i did with my 3" ex force system WAS PUT 2 packed hot dogs between the center muffler and the diff about 30" long quietened it down and bade it A DEEP NOTE under power
it was way to load once i put the cam and blower on without the dogs

Was meant to be getting the whole thing for $400 but due to not having the middle section yet have only paid $200
may stick a couple of resonators in there by the reports of how loud it'll be once cammed

Has anyone run the DPE System and removed the long resonator 7'' for smaller HDs or straight pipe.
