I'll ba taking the red beast out to Calder for a run this friday for a run as final preparation for my trip to the WinterNationals at Willowbank in a few weeks.

Who's going? Who's racing and who will be spectating?

Feel free to come up and say G'day and introduce yourself if we havent met before.

I am looking at improving my PB of 10.81@125.1 from Heathcote a few weeks ago. The car is set-up exactly the same as it was then so it will be interesting to see if the air and track give a faster or slower time now that wheelspin isnt an issue with the 16" wide slicks on the back!! (14" tread)

I have a few ideas for some small mods before heading up to Willowbank (mainly weight reduction) but i want to wait until after friday because this is the first time i am able to do a direct comparison between Calder and Heathcote as i havent made any changes to the car.

People say 0.1~0.2 faster at Calder due to the better air quality (relative altitude is lower and more oxygen) and the track of late has had some awesome prep. If i can run a low 10.7 or even a 10.6-something i will be more than happy!!!

Cheers, and maybe i will see you then!!

Hi Simon

Forgedaboudit! To late for me too take my plates off at Calder as I have been their twice allready with them on! And if I need an ls1 rebuilt as if I would get Holden to do it. Would be the ultimate time for a stroker/cam package!

I can always say I lent my custom plates out to my friends vx clubby for the night! Each time my car has been to Calder it has never been in my name at Scrutineering.

G'day Darren,
Hope to meet you at the Winternationals to check out the setup.
If you are real keen for a run up here they have a test and tune for Winternats competitors the weekend before the meet. Track is fully prepped and hopefully it won't be raining. :(

Hi

I am going to Calder with my drag tyres to see if I can crack very very high 12's...such as a 12.99

I am only going to be running my normal street tyres/rims at Heathcote (255/35/18) on the back now and want a very very low 13.....ie: 13.2!

When I ran you I had skinnier tyres on the back.

Wish me luck!!!

regards,

Richard

Thanks ADV51,

A mate of mine raced at the test & tune the week before the Winters last year and said it was worthwhile. I watched from the comfort of my computer at work. Unfortunatly i wont be able to get up there in time for it this year as the guy that is coming with me wont be able to take the extra week off work, and i am not paying for him to fly up a week after me!!

Thats the main reason for taking it out tomorrow night. It will also give me a chance to fine tune and check everything before the winters over the next few weeks.

It will be good to meet you and a few other QLD forumers while i am up that way. Cant wait to get up there and see some real racing for a change!!

Have a good one,

Darren
