The Gold is street series, the 4000 is more performance. So try and get the 4000 series if you can

4000's are the go, nice solid rotor with quality where it counts and made for track days. Gold aren't much better than standard DBA slotted. I had a pair of 4000's off ebay for $250 brand new so you can get them cheap if you're lucky.

I was only replacing the rotors cause they are warped, i was going fronts only for now, but is it worth in a few more months to get the rears and replace the fluid with dot4 and braided lines? am i going to get much of a difference over what i have now (standard)?

Mate from my experiences with those rotors get RDA slotted rotors instead they should be cheaper & a lot less chance of warping & also put EBC Greenstuff pads on as they are kind to your discs ( less wear ) & they can handle high temps ( less fade) also excellent hot & cold braking you will notice the difference . Hope that helps.

I would not buy RDA as they are made in china out of low quailty steel and DBA are are made here in oz of better quailty steel by AUSSIE'S .
If you bed any rotor in correctly you will not have an issue with warping of disc's. I got DBA 4000 6X6 slotted for $200 each and i run QFM taxi pads good stopping very little dust $135 a set.

yeah, thats what i wanted, the DBA 6x6 and yeah im always a fan of buyin aussie.

If i got the DBA 6x6 now, how much of a difference will adding the rears in later? im i going to be missing out much?

Fronts generally take care of 70% of stopping duties in a passenger car, so I don't think adding 4000's to the back will improve much. Always looks good to have a full set of slotted though :goodjob:

yeah, thats what i was thinking, i have GTO rims on the car so a set of 4000s should look the shit

Ok, dumb question time guys...Are these DBA slotted rotors a replacement for the stock rotors, meaning you can still use your existing stock calipers and pads?
Cheers

yes they are a direct replacement but you probbly should put new (better) pads in if fitting new rotors

It depends on what type of pads and how you drive as well but you will notice better braking more if you replace all four at the same time rather than the 2 step way.

Replace all four. I did with 4000 series and Bendix ultimate pads. works like a treat now. never felt like i couldn't stop in a hurry, however my pads wore quick, only got 15k from all four pads which was a pitty.

the only reason why im replacing the fronts is because the fronts a rooted and i dont really wanna spend the full amount straight up atm, i mean its a $1000 job

I didn't talk to you on the dog'n'bone, did I? I had DBA 4000 rotors (vented 286mm rear, 320mm front) put on my car with the stock rear calipers (and almost unworn pads) and C6 front callipers with the differential pistons. They make a difference to feel, I believe. Now my car basically has the HBD, VZ Monaro, SSZ or 6.0 VZ setup.

I am in the 'DBA-good' camp. The big discs fill 18" rims nicely and the callipers look horn, and now when you tap the pedal you feel the front of the car dip, compared to before where it was like squeezing a brick under your foot; and there was always a momentary doubt about if the car was going to stop or not. I didn't weigh them, but I'm sure the 320mm DBA discs weigh less than the stock 296mm ones just by feel - the internal structure and thickness of each side is less.

After 3-4,000km the visual wear is low, performance is excellent and noise, squeals etc non-existant. I am running standard Bendix pads and they work fine for street use. If you were going on a track I think I'd be looking at Kevlar pads (usually green and they do run cooler but take longer to bed), or the super-sggressive 'Red' pads for banzai work but they'll wear the disc faster and may be noiser on the street.

I don't have slotted or drilled as mine is 100% street. You still have to be careful braking hard - the guy behind you might not be able to stop as quick! For towing it's night and day.

I'd say for real hard braking the fronts do 90% of the braking - my stock front pads were gone at 50,000km but the rears were only down a mm or so.

bog'n'bone, WTF? guess not.

Whats the go with those c6 calipers?

You know, dog and bone =Telephone! Chesse and kisses=missus, Septic Tank=yank, Boat-race=face etc. Can't call yourself a dinky-di Aussie if you're not up with the rhyming slang vernacular.

Standard PBR calliper fitted to the new C6 Corvette, F6 FPV and VZ Monaro, SS-Z and 2006 VZ 6.0. Pontiac 2005+ GTO also used in the HBD premium kit. The difference between them and the HSV 330 mm C5 Corvette unit is they don't need the L-shaped bracket, they bolt straight onto the stub axle (needs HSV sleeve for 12mm bolts as they have 14mm hole or fit the VZ Monaro/6.0 VZ/SSZ stub axle with 14mm holes or ream and tap yours). Because they bolt straight on, the calliper which is more robust but still lighter is mounted more firmly. The pad retainer design is also better, allows the pads to slide in the calliper easier - it's just a nicer, more modern design. The main diff is the leading edge piston is smaller, as the pad normally wears more at the front which makes it wear in a taper and means some pad movement is taken up in forcing the pad onto the disc, possibly bending the mount or bringing the calliper off-square - all of which reduces efficiency once the pads aren't new.

Modern multi-piston callipers use the staggered pad diameters to help avoid this. The C6 is obviously not going to be as good as Harrops, or Brembos or APs, but then the discs and pads cost $hundreds and not $thousands. A set of vented, plain unslotted undrilled DBA 4000s in 320/286mm were about $550 for my car from Repco as I bought them all at once.

The C6 uses the exact same pads as the HSV 330mm setup so plenty of choice and the rear appears to be the same as the 315mm HSV vented rears which use the stock Holden VT-VZ calliper spaced out on a bracket. IMO smaller discs are fine for the street, as they don't really add much braking force.

Just putting the C6 hasn't affected stock ABS operation at all. Improved feel on the pedal (less travel for the same braking performance), much more confidence in the bendy stuff on the road. Like I said, for a trackday bandit you'd probably want bigger discs and 4-pistons at least.

how much and where do you get a set of c6 calipers?

Got my drilled slotted dba golds $155 each bursons and it took longer to unpack and de-oil than the time it took to change over. (fronts fall off... with a tap) well on my model.
