Finally!!
A drive report.
With some input from local engineers, we may get a sharpened steering set for a bit more driver involvement.
Hopefully we'll get the 1.4l turbo a bit further down the track, maybe when the hatch hits the road

Hopefully it's a good seller for Holden i can see it appealling to the people out there who just want car to drive from a to b with a reasonable amount of features for a good price..
I expect the local version will be slightly different if they sharpen the steering could be a little pocket rocket..
If it is a good seller could we see a turbo cruze wearing HSV badges?, I'm sure if vauxhall gets their hands on it they will do some sort up powered version they do to almost every car they sell.. Could be good entry level HSV under the VXR Astra..
Excellent

If Vauxhaull get's their hands on it, they're sure to put their own badge on it and leave the rest to Opel.:goodjob:

Both the Cruze and the next Astra are built on the Delta II platform, however the Cruze will have a Torsion Beam rear axle (cheap) and the Astra will have IRS (expensive, to compete with the Focus). Astra could stay in the line up as it has built up a following for those wanting Euro quality and style. The Cruze will replace the Viva as a value offering to compete with the base model Tiida, Corolla, Hyundai, Kai.

good to see that you're talking from the experience of having sat in one and also taken one for a decent drive.
How about next time you just keep your pie hole shut?

Guys
Having had a good look at a couple of them at the Melbourne Motor Show I have to say that was I impressed with the general fit and finish of the vehicle. They are sized on a par with the Mazda 3 and the equipment levels are very good with an emphasis on safety with airbags everywhere and ABS and stability control across the range. The transmissions appear to be a 5 speed manual and a 6 speed auto. I'm interested in the diesel version and I'm hoping they might follow some of the Euro brands and bring out a 6 speed manual.

My wife's had 1 for a year, it uses over 8.4l/100km, it pulls to the left, it stays in 1st up to 4krpm then stays in 2nd up to 4krpm again and the instrumentations keep flicking off and back on again. The Holden dealer keep saying they cannot find anything wrong with the car.
I'd have to agree with pelagonia_ss

The pulling to the lefton early cars is well known about, and has had a fix for ages. There has been the odd instrument cluster issue, fixed by a replacement cluster.

Depends what she is after. The jump from a C63 to a Cruze is rather massive.
There are rumours of HSV interest, but rumours are a funny thing. They can either be true, or you can die waiting for them to become fact...

All MY11 and MY12 are Aussie cars, identified by VIN's starting with 6G1...
MY10 Korean made cars have KL3... VIN's.

PeteNo offence to Cruze owners however that's a mighty change in vehicle class and performance. How old is the C63?
