Dont joke about this but a mate of mine in our younger days used to use light truck tyres. Last a lot longer and make bag loads of smoke. The other reason we used these tyres was my mate worked at Delarue Tyres in Carnegie...nice and cheap...

I have a couple of red smokle 18's in Kumho ku31 if you want. Paid a shedload and only did a couple of small burnouts.
The other coloured smoke tyre is done by austyre I think but be warned these are a remould so the quality is much lower.
Will take $280 for the pair of 235/40r18 kumho's

burnout comps, i'm so over those, can't see the point of them at all. at first they were fun to watch, but now you would have to pay me to watch one. build a nice car just to rip it guts out for smoke I don't get it..

thanks for sharing.
i hate tennis but people still like to play and watch tennis.
i like r\c cars but cant see the point in spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on them.
lawn bowls isnt fun to watch by urself but playing with a group of mates looks fun.
everyone to their own.
just because you dont like them or dont see the point doesnt mean everyone else has to share the same view or needs to know.
that doesnt help this thread, neither does my post but im at work and im bored but still smiling:)

While its good to watch I dont think i could do it to my car. Would have to have a second that I didnt care so much.

Lawn bowls with mates and beers is unreal fun. Some betting on the side and drinking penaltys makes it more so. Not just for old fogeys.

was tyres only
14' are generally 185/14 so not much width but hard compound rubber. Very easy to spin so a higher wheel speed - more smoke.
Max smoke comes from your wheels spinning at 200 but your front doing 20.

spinging them @ 200 is not a problem. i done some skids on my micky thompsons sportmans 29x12-15 and they take a bit to start smoking, iv seen other tyres with more smoke at lower speeds and only a normal sized tyre.
at the moment i nail it and it spins but only get a light haze of smoke, i want to get it bellowing out!!

Don't know much about tyres that produce a lot of smoke. Chuck some 15" shitters on it and let 2nd-3rd gear do all the talking:jester:

Useless posts, I'm so over those! I cant see the point of saying something that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Cant understand why you would go to the trouble of reading a post that you cant help on and then type something completely useless out
I'd use light truck as said or 4wd tyres mate. PM BlackDiamond on here mate, he will be able to help you and tell you the best options! He knows a thing or two about both tyres and skids!

When you did your powerskid Adam what gear were you in? With your beast you'd easily be able to smoke them in top gear which will make the difference between a bit of smoke and a cloud of it.
As for rims/tyres I'd just be stocking up on cheap interceptor rims with tyres off ebay as there are always plenty of them going cheap.

on the truck tyre thing, wonder how a pair of run flats on those US bulletproof cars like the one fullOshitbama rides in would smoke

hey brett, yeah the one i did the other day was top gear.
top gear + 4.11 diff gears + 30inch high tyre = 240kmh@7000rpm

My mates old man told us about this 20yrs ago when my mate bought his XYGT we thought he was full of it, he comes home a week later with a set of tyres and rims and said come boysd lets go fry them..
One of the best burnouts I've ever seen couldn't believe the smoke..

I've 'heard' diesel is also good for soaking them in.

soaking in diesel is more prominant to catching fire during the "longer" efforts.....

I thought the same but I heard it come from Mr Myers (Ford driver) own mouth probably 15yrs ago. I was going to add at the end of the post prob best to keep a fire extinguiser handy.

soaking them in oil works, have a few mates who consistently are entering burnout comps and i know a few of them have used this method on occasion for big smoke, dunno bout power skids though, might be a bit greasy for high speeds
