my vy calais diff is making a clunking noise at speeds below 20kph it's done 99000km does it mean it's time to get a new one?

Is it definitely the diff? I've had a few different suspension components make clunking noises over time...

the noise it makes sounds like the diff locking & unlocking at slow speed.the calais comes std with lsd.so i assume it the diff not suspension

changing the oil and adding a diff additive might help. It worked in my last SS,much cheaper than a rebuild too:)

Did they in VY? They don't in VE, even in V8. If it is a diff your cheapest bet is to find someone with another VX - VZ auto who has gone to a 3.46 or 3.73 diff and wants to get rid of their 3.08 LSD. Most guys virtually give them away as nobody wants them (maybe a couple of hundred bucks).

Go get the recommended diff oil from autobarn and the nulon friction modifier. The diff in my car done that pretty damn bad and it fixed it....i did put the whole tube in though lol
