My Series III Headlights are fairly badly pitted from rocks/driving etc.
What different factory options are there for the early shape Monaro lights (ie. are the CV8R lights different etc)?
Anyone have prices and part numbers at all?

Only difference with the CV8R headlights are the silver indicator globes (not orange)

when you say CV8R, im pretty sure your referring to the VZ monaro which has different shape lights to CV8 series.
and brand new CV8 lights from holden are over $700 for both, other wise you can buy cheap copies but there not identical
or you can just put VT lights in, but that would look crap.

No, CV8R are CV8R.
VZ Monaro as you say are a different shape, hence why I stated the "early shape" lights are what I am interested in.
$700 for both, hooly hell that's not cheap... :bawl:

Get your hands on some Plastic Polish like this http://www.spaparts.com.au/prod1461.htm
The stuff we use at work which is for stretched acrylic highly dense aircraft windscreens works a treat on headlights.

If you shop around, you might find somewhere willing to sell you a pair at a better price.
I do offers like this from time to time at work, so others are likely to as well, as it's a fairly rare counter sale.

when you say shop around, do you mean ring up different holden dealers or are there other places that sell genuine headlights?

They all ultimately come out of Holden if they are genuine.
For a late model vehicle, cheaper leaves you with basically three options.
1. Second-hand.
2. Reseller of genuine parts.
3. Dealership.
I work fairly high up in a dealership, and sometimes sell something like this discounted for a pair, as they usually only get sold at big discounts to panel shops. Selling them cheaper like this over the counter can get us a sale we might normally miss out on, whilst also keeping the customer happy with a better than usual price. Win-win situation.
So, yes ring around, and ask dealers or resellers if they will do you "a good price" for a pair of new ones.

I have seen some that were looking pitted fixed up, they used a fine wet and dry until they got a smooth surface and then buffed the light.. They come up looking like new.
My Monaro goes into the shop tomorrow for the front end to be painted as it's got some stone chips, i was going to try the wet and dry on my lights so i will look at getting some bofore and after shots.. At the prices quoted i just hope the after shots are not of new lights.

Will Do! fingers crossed all comes out OK
I had a play with them at the shop today and they are coming up well, i'm going back on Thursday to finish them. I will get some shots...
I went very easy with them at first as i was not sure how it would go and didn't want to lash out on new ones, not sure how they will go long term but time will tell.

Problem for you cashie is that the freight costs from Melb to Perth will wipe out pretty much all of the savings, not to mention the risk of transport beefcakes breaking something.

$80 is $80, you must be rich or something to not care about $80
