I just noticed this morning that my boot was not locked overnight. I tried to close it, and it just won't close. It just keeps popping up again. There doesn't seem to be any problems with the lock, and the remote boot releasers are working fine.
What could be the problem? It's a VTII by the way.
Thanks a lot :)

try checking that the cable that runs to the boot release (along the boot arm) is clipped into position, sometimes the boot on my vx doesnt close and the cable has come uncliped

the metal latched that the lock holds onto may have dropped sligtly. see if it is loose or has marks where it once was. Just an idea ;-)

Jonesy, it seems to be clipped into position, so no problems there.
QCK-57L, I just checked the metal latch and it also seems to be in place, so no problems there either.
Hmm.. any other ideas? :)

no idea, but a good way to find out is hop in the boot with a torch and get a good friend not one who will leave you in ther :) to close the lid and watch the whole thing hapn. might be able to see something that way. Thats just something i would do ;-)

I wonder if the rubber stoppers on your boot have wound themselves out and are preventing the boot from closing enough to latch?

+1 on double checking the cable release all the way along it's length. Try pulling it at a point to see how much slack it has... mine can pull about 5cm...
Failing that, check that the latch itself is screwed on tight (ie the part on the boot lid) - mine needs tightening every couple of weeks. Sure, it's bass-assisted :) but they do come loose easy and the boot won't close when they are.

Could a body part from the dead body you have in there be hindering it in any way... ??

Although you say the lock works okay, "It just keeps popping up again" I'm unsure if the boot lid actually goes all the way into the normal shut position, so have you checked to see if the actual lock mechanism hasn't "switched" over to the locked position even though the boot is open as this will naturally prevent it closing and it will pop up again as it bounces against the lock striker pin.:goodjob:
Failing this as you say the "remote boot releasers are working fine" try unlocking the boot with the key in the lock mechanism:)

I'll bet the catch is actually broken. My VX did the same, the latch seemed to work ok but a spring inside was broken and it took very little pressure to force open the catch again. Think it was only $30 from Holden.
my VZ boot doesn't shut occassionally so i just slam the absolute fsck out of it and it closes properly.
its usually after a day of sitting in the sun at work

Bah...what an idiot! QCK-57L was right afterall :goodjob:
It did end up being the metal latch at the bottom (where the lock hooks onto). I thought you were talking about something else at the time. All I had to do was pull it back up into place and tighten the screw... and viola, good as new.
Thanks for all the help fellas.

When the hook on the bottom is positioned incorrectly it often forces the locking peice to come free and move around. It would be best to make sure this is tight aswell. Mine came loose when I had this same problem, and it resulted in a lot of extra rattles.
