Was this the engine from the Red vy ute IIRC?

its pretty sobering to think that until a couple of years ago, a dirty old holden v8 held the highest number at summernats dyno comp using pump fuel!
And it ran an 8 at kwinana as well IIRC, a pretty tuff combo, thats for sure, although id hate to see how many blocks that things chewed up, HV8's arent exactly known for bulletproof bottom ends lol.

Yes it was, but it was firstly in his Vh commodore I think that was the model it ran an 8 from what I remember

I would like to see a video of that one too! It revs to 7400rpm and 604rwhp! :headbang:

Can't be trusted as far as I'm concerned. 230degC intake temp? That sort of shenanigans isn't on.

Good pick up Evman- I needed to put my glasses on to see that lmao
Also heard that a South West bloke was geting a turbo ls-1 tuned up by him and ended up with a lock full of bent rods hmmmm - only what I heard , not sure of the exact circumstances

At a dyno day the operator cocked up and positioned the probe in a bad position, once rectified comparing there was a temp difference of 24 degrees which equated to a HP difference of 41HP.
Don't know the maths behind it but what sort of HP increase roughly would the variance on the posted sheet be??
white lie

When it did the rounds back in `06, they said the correct figure should have been around 1300-1400rwhp if the sensor was correct. BUT there was still revs left in the engine. The run was stopped as the dyno could not read any more (Max. retarder) but they say there was around 1500RPM left before the engine stopped making power. Its made decent numbers plenty of times before, just don't think it had 1800+ in it.
I'm looking out for his LSx combo's too, there seems to be word of some good stuff coming out of that garage.
I like the vids of the first VH the engine was in. Effortlessly ran in to the 8's!

There are a few curious questions that Eddy wanted to reply to on this thread and as I am in Perth working on the PSR Show right now , we thought is would be opportune for Ed to respond via myself as he has never personally put a post on this forum.
I wish to make it perfectly clear that Ed is both a friend AND is sitting next to me here at Active Automotive right now and these are his comments.
1. It it a Holden based donk using a VN GPA block/COME 383 Crank - for those that are more interested ,the next issue of Perth Streetcar Mag has all the Data.
2. No relation to Jeremy
3. X BC X - It probably is better than sex - certainly Revs Harder than I do!
4. It was out of the Ute and is now back in ready for the show in May.
5. Eveman - It is well documented that the intake sensor failed for those 2 Dyno passes and we never made any claims to have made that power! It is dissapointing that S_ _ t still has to be brought up in attempts to discredit me. I must admit that negative s_ _ _ like this drove us away from the scene for 3 years
6. Heavyduty1340 - Check your facts!!!!!!!!!!
7. cards400 - you know far too much! - see that combo at the Show
After the 2006 show when the reading went off we all decided to just cool off and get back to business at Active - We have 3 years of amazing growth and I will be back harder than ever in May
Cheers
Ed
. . . now for my 2 cents worth - I was the Promotor of that Show in 06 and it was my responsiblity to ensure that all was correct - our staff at the event got court up in the hype of just having the ute there and missed that reading in the hysteria of it all - shit happens - they are only human and I stand by their efforts today . Mark and Dave who have worked for us for 30 years combined were just as shattered as Ed. They to will return to Perth in may to set the record straight - bring it on!
Cheers

I no doubt believe Eddy will back it all up and bring on some awesome numbers. I've seen and heard his car a couple of times, never to be forgotten.
I dont believe anyone was out to dicredit anyone, just little things such as that without the full story get picked up on an questioned. Seems to play a bit part in this world.
Either way well done guys, hope to see something bit again in the future........ never let the game bring you down but.

I can certainly understand about missing the IAT at the time and from the cars Eddy has run at the track it's obvious that he's built and is still building great setups. However.
1. A light bulb should have been flicking on in someones head when the ute made over 300hp more than it should have. Surely the ute would have been run up before so there definitely would have been a ballpark figure that it "should" have made. However, I've watched Eddy put the ute on the dyno myself at the 2005 Perth Street Car Convention and noted that each run the tune was modified, so fair call if it was thought that it had hit the perfect note in the tune.
2. It's obviously not very well documented that the probe had failed because this is the first time I, and I'm sure majority of people who previously knew about the blowout run, have heard about it. Glad to have it cleared up though, as now I can set the many other people straight that haven't heard the well documented fact, which I'm happy to do so.
3. I never meant to discredit, just said it as I knew it. Over the years I've seen many of the vehicles Eddy has built in the Perth Street Car Mag and have always been impressed. From memory, Eddy still has the fastest time in WA for street car?? 8 odd seconds? ET's are hard to fault so it just goes to show how good Eddy's work is.
4. Welcome back to the game Eddy. From what I've seen you'll have no troubles getting back in up towards the top.

that thing of eddy's along with brett waine really got the ball rolling as far as interest in the dyno comps (for me anyway), bit of a letdown the way it ended, with the accusations of cheating, but you guys played by the rules and kicked arse.
And that car has kicked arse on the strip too, which is sadly lacking from a lot of big power cars these days.
I long for the day that the current crop of dyno cars actually put that power down and run a number on the track.
EDDY:
Bang all that gear on a come alloy 400 cuber, and give the lsx boys a run for their money at summernats, then get it back on the track and smash some records.
enough arse licking from me for one day, but your cars cool man, ignore the experts and the fkn knockers and just do your own thing...
no one can argue with timeslips mate...
edit:
Any chance on some info on how the hell you held the bottom end together lol.

Ahhh i remember that show in 06, haha you can actually just see my head in the crowd of that first pic of eddy's ute. Everyone was so pumped to see it on the dyno, it was a mission just to get a seat!
From memory eddy and his crew had stayed up and worked on the ute for pretty much half the week straight, it was a massive effort and definatley the highlight of the show to see it run.
No one really cared if the reading wasnt accurate, it was a mistake by one of the dyno operators. We all knew it was easily 1000rwhp++ and it sounded like all hell was breaking loose.
Absolute animal of a car!!
