Ordered my brand new HSV Tourer (Wagon) last week, I want manual and the only manual in country at the moment is at at the Holden/HSV dealer in Mount Isa (far nth QLD) so it has to come from there.
Quoted del date to melb dealer via Toll freight is April 9th then I guess a few days for them to do their pre delivery bit:bawl:
Anyhow they did advise me of about a 15 working day freight time so I cant really complain...but you woundn't think it would take so long to get here to melbourne would you...
Anyone else have such a situation happen?
I am hoping it might arrive a few days earlier in time for me to get to for easter.

I ordered my Maloo last year in February and it arrived at the end of June! Granted they had to make it and then ship it across the tasman
Anyway, hope it arrives ahead of the projected date but I wouldn't hold my breath :)

we get stock freighted via NQX (Toll...) from Melb to Brisbane and it has taken upto 2 weeks. Syd to Brisbane is overnight service but you wont see gear for 3 days... 15 days from T'ville to Melb doesnt surprise me at all
They have a monopoly on the market and use it to an advantage, just hope your new rig shows up and in showroom condition.

Our SS Sportwagon took 2 weeks to get from a dealer on SA/VIC border to suburban Melbourne ??? I was less than impressed as the dealer had indicated a couple of days to get the car.

it takes ages for anything to be sent out of and to the Isa so the delivery date seems about right it will be changing trucks a few times to get down there as well, I will be back there on Friday and see if it has left yet will let you know

Once you get well away from the populated areas, what you are all used to often disappears, and the "good old" days of the past reappear.
It's pretty common for only (say) one trip a week to be made into certain areas, whereas we are all used to "same day" despatch in the cities.

Hey great tks for that Mick, it will be good to know if it has left.
Its a White one. I had a look at the dealer via Goolge street view and it looks pretty small - I hope the car was in the showroom and not out in the yard!

Hey Frosty
No Probs, from memory the car was under the carport section of the dealer yard, all the HSVs seem to be kept there or inside.
Davo is right we get one transporter a week and the local holden dealer is their agent so it wont be sitting in some random holding yard for days.
I will try and call my mate there tommorow but I have noticed there are more members on here from the isa so maybe they can go for a drive past and have a look for you if they read this.
Have a good look at it when you get it though carriers up here arent known for being delicate, good choice though I reckon they look awesome !!!

Hey Tim K good to see another Isa member here ....
Frosty jump on a plane and drive it back it would break it in nicely and be a hell of a lot quicker maybe the dealer will pay your airfare ??

Too be honest, I can't remember. I didn't pay that much attention to it. I'll check tomorrow.
I just did a 5500km trip from Perth to the Isa last week and it was a sensational drive. Very comfortable, wasn't tired or sore at the end of each day and the only downside was the bugs and birds I hit. Only damage was a bent licence plate
Hey Tim K good to see another Isa member here ....
Thanks PSI 364 :) I'm still getting used to being back. I've noticed heaps of fine SS/HSVs in town during the last week. Mining dollars spent well during the good times

Yep, sorry Brent. I posted a while ago in the mining thread that I was leaving due to the great nickel bust of 2008. I did love the cruises the WA members put on (JK and Karl ) Good times

Ok thanks for your help guys.
It will be a change going to the Wagon after my current car - you can read a review on it here http://autospeed.com/cms/A_3079/article.html
I sold it last week and the new owner picks it up toomorrow, so I will be without a car till the Tourer arrives... which will kind of suck.
Looking forward to the V8 though, my last HSV was a VT Manta back in about 1999, alot has changed since then...

Hi Frosty. Here's the update
Your car is in the holding yard (off the sales lot) and is getting prepped for transport tomorrow. The Toll truck comes in tomorrow afternoon and will leave town Friday.
When it gets to you from there though is anyone's guess. Hope this helps but I know your impatient and for a great car like this, you should be.
cheers

I think I should change my user name to "MR X" sounds kinda cool...:)
Thanks for the update Tim :goodjob: - at least I have some idea of what is happening with it now... I just need a few observant members now to keep an eye out for the Toll truck with a White HSV Wagon on it to keep me posted now of its location :)
I would really love to get delivered to me before easter long weekend...

Yeah it will be a big change, but no problems & I am really looking forward to the HSV.
The XR5 ended up with 172Kw at the wheels and is a real blast to drive, I will miss it but wont take too long to get used to the Tourer.. :)

My car is still slowly on it's way down to Melb - I spoke with the Melb dealer the other day and as of Sunday night it had made it to the "QLD Depot" ...
So 13 days after signing for the car and 3 days of actual travel time and it's still in QLD
Anyone seen one of these on the back of a toll truck up QLD/NSW way!

If so let me know where and when... I am hoping I still might get it in time for the easter break...

frosty..Good luck with your sportswagon..you've really got no wait at all..we had to wait 6 months for our GTO.
Prior to our car reaching the dealer, their salesman asked me if I had any special instructions with respect to "pre delivery/detailing" etc. As our car (like yours) had come straight from HSV to the Dealer, & had never been out in the sun/exposed to weather etc, I told them that I did NOT want any "harsh" buffing of the paint etc...as I couldn't see how that would be required.....so they just gave it a very light hand polish...and the paint has always been good. I'm no detailer, but I've a friend who knows all about that sort of stuff, & he concurred.
Just my thoughts.
Cheers, Pickles.

Yep, my new ute was straight from factory to dealer so I asked them to do the minimum necessary polishing because some of the people who do pre-delivery preparation put swirls etc in the paint which then have to be rectified. As soon as my hardlid arrives my car is going straight to Final Inspection in Campbellfield for a decent paint protection detail.

My Tourer has been at the HSV dealer in Mt Isa and its not a real big show room up there so I am hoping it hasnt been sitting out side in the blazing hot Far Nth QLD sun too much!
The long truck trip down from there to Melb may also take its toll on the paintwork... so for sure I will be giving it a good inspection on pickup....

I'd be more worried about the sulphur that is emitted from the copper stack at MIM. Thankfully, the smoke rarely blows over the eastern part of town where Holden is located.

Ahh good old fallout !!! Frosty have a close for for small black dots or pitting on your paint, if you got them then its fallout and will need a baremetal respray .. But as Tim said the fumes dont normally get that far into town and yours was parked undercover while on display so it should be fine, but have a close look when you pick it up.

Do you know how long the dealer up there had the car on the lot?
Was it outside (under cover) or inside the showroom.?

Dont worry too much mate it was in a good spot well under cover, from memory it was only in stock for about a month until you got it.
Just though I would let you know as it is a rampant problem here in Mt Isa, I have had 2 cars bare metal resprayed for free (payed for by the local mining company) because of it. But it is mainly from parking near or in the mine itself, the dealer is a short distance away from it so dont stress just have a good look when you get it, on white cars it shows up as little black spots but I would say you will be fine.
Hopefully you will get it before Easter :driving: I wish I was getting a new HSV !!!
