Hi Guy's and Girls!
I've decided to update my VE SS and get into a new Clubby.
So far i've got quotes ranging from $57990 - $63900 Drive Away. (std, no options)
Has anyone done this exercise in Brisbane or the Gold Coast lately?
Who have you found to offer the best deal?
Thanks!!
Mick

Mate,
I got my Clubby at Zupps at Aspley, talk to Anthony at HSV, I got mine for 58,990 with full leather. Got great service, it was a demo, but only had 90km on the clock.
Cheers

Ian was that drive away or plus orc. I am looking for a clubby in perth and the best i can do so far is around 56000 + orc (so around 60 on the road for an 08 model).
Was yours 08 or 09 ?

Looks like i will have to take a trip to either Qld or Perth to get my clubby, i have two quotes from two hsv dearlers here in Adelaide $65000 drive away for an o8 model with leather and $69000 for an o9. Definately pays to shop around by the looks. Ian.

I dont know why people get so cought up in when its plated.. if your getting a good deal who cares? and long as its not like 2 years old.. 08/09 who cares? they change jack Sh*t anyway.

Mate,
Well it was 9mths ago, but if you go for a 08 (307Kw) you should be able to get a good deal, shop around. I agree with HSVQUE dont get sucked in when it was plated, they all GO the same, and the extra 10Kw in the 08/09 ones you wont notice.

Wasn't the extra 10kw brought upon when the ls3 was brought in?
I would highly doubt you would run into a brand spanker ls2 still, but if you did definitely a bargaining chip if you didn't mind.

sounds like someone is a little cheesed he didn't wait for LS3 :hide: lol sorry had to.
LS3 is better, heads more cubes etc so you would go that without a doubt,
BUT if you snagged a great deal on a LS2 CLubby then you'd have to take it.

Sure the car may be no different, but come trade in time, resale value makes a difference, (especially if you trade in only a few years) not worth paying $5 or 6 thousand extra for an early 09 over a late 08. I would go the 08, but just wouldn't be paying top 09 price for it.
08 plated will always be cheaper than 09 plated.
regardless of build date, the 08 plated is effectively 1 year old :)

It really depends what the offer is.. Hey if they only want like 2k more for a 09 well i guess its worth it for the resale.. but if your saving a decent amount by buying 08 plated then i think its the smarter choice..

Yes these prices were for brand new cars that must be registered by Dec 31 2008.
A Clubsport R8 sedan manual could be had for $51000 drive-away.
I bought a Clubsport R8 sedan, plated Dec 15 2008, Sting, manual, sunroof, 1600kg tow & window tint for $53000 drive-away.
A colleague bought a GTS sedan, plated Dec 13 2008, nitrate, manual $59000 drive-away.
and another a Tourer wagon, plated Dec 3 2008, black, auto $60000 drive-away.
Can still get a brand new 08 plated black Grange $93000 RRP for $77000 drive-away.

The plate will only tangibly come into play when you sell it
If you are going to keep the car for say 4+ years then dont worry about the plate
If you are going to sell within a year or 2, the plate will definitly have an effect on resale value

That's what I figured, save around $20,000 still get the MY9.5 2009 specs too good to say no. Since I lease my cars and you don't pay GST on a lease, that $53,000 driveaway ended up being $48,300 leased. So then when you look at the residual pay-out in 3 years with 75,000klm on the clock (25K a year) it's $22,000. Did the same with three previous SS's VY, VZ, VE and got more than the residual each time I traded up.
So a Clubsport R8 MY9.5 spec for $22,000 with 75K on the clock, Sunroof, Towbar, service history come see me Dec 2011.
To lease is definately the best tax advise anybody can give you, the more you drive the more you save, ask your employer, put it into your log of claims, see your financial advisor/tax accountant...your company pays less payroll tax and you save your personal tax and get to drive a new car every 3 or 4 years.

thats ok if you have only 1 or 2 cars but in my situation with 5 cars I could'nt do the K's if I tried, so it makes it hard for people like me

5 Car's! That would be a lot to try and cover 125,000 km a year
My friend use to put his STI on a hoist and let it run to complete his 25,000 a year

Given the lease companies couldn't process the paperwork within such a short time some colleagues missed out on Dec 31. Prices on the Clubsport R8 jumped to $60,000 drive-away and the GTS to $69,000 driveaway. A demo SSV with 50klm, leather, auto, red, on it was $44,000 driveaway up to Dec 31 and after jumped to $51,000 drive-away from January 1, same car same klm. HSV to dealer memo detailed all the prices pre and post Dec 31 making mention the 2008 stock levels will not be repeated, to prevent the discounting occuring again. More like fast food "made when ordered" plus a couple in the warmer.

Interesting as the holden rebates to Dealers were extended till 31st Jan. so were these increased price's prior to Jan 31st?

The dealer was making sure people new what was going to happen after Dec 31, I like most people thought "we've heard it all before" like the boy who cried wolf. Then it happenned and the cut-off date for discounts of that magnitude stuck, then prices rose slightly (if you call $10g's slight) and HSV won't be doing it again, given their decision to reduce future stockpiles.
As for Holden extending their discounts to Jan 31 was exactly what some would have thought would happen with HSV, just that it didn't. HSV stocks were reduced so significanlty (I mean to say when a MY9.5 GTS goes down from a list of $82,000 to $59,000 drive-away stocks moved very fast) that their remaining stocks of I believe 200 down from 1200 would need to carry them till they starting building 09 plated vehicles again in March. The sale worked just don't ecpect anything like it again. Never been done by HSV before and won't happen again, they'll make sure since so many pre "economy crash" buyers rightfully vented their spleen at the dealers offerring $20,000+ discounts thereby impacting on their vehicles value.

It has happened before (sort of); when the VZ's were being run out in late 06; you could get a VZ Clubsport for $49,900 driveaway.

i remember that, that helped me get a good deal on my Typhoon as i said they would have to come up with something better or i'd go down the road to HSV!!! not that i would have but it helped haha
So, here we are, end of the '09 financial year. What are the deals people are seeing out there now? I'm looking at trading into a Tourer, but the driveaway price I'm getting in Sydney is around $71K (incl. leather + a couple of other bits). That sounds a bit on the pricey side, doesn't it?
Thanks,
Matt

Thanks John. Presumably that would be with the standard spec, so if I could get down to about $69K (with leather), I think I would be doing ok.
Plus, since it's repeat business, I'm sure they'll do their best to look after me (Hunter Holden, Ryde).
Regards,
Matt
(btw, anyone in the market for a 2006 Phantom GTS, cai, retune, cat-back? ;)
