Hey I was wondering how people go about lifting an engine without heads on with an engine crane. I have to get valve reliefs in the pistons and need to move the engine but don't know how to lift the motor without putting the heads back on which i don't really want to do.

SO is there a way I can make up a sling to go under the engine and move it that way??

PS engine is already on an engine stand, not in the car.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ether use a sling as you said
or screw a bolt in the the back(bellhousing)
and one on the front
and attach a chain

Seeing as the heads are off, use the original heads bolts as they are non reuseable and screw one left rear bank and one right front bank and a chain and lift away.
