i drive a vy ss 6 speed ute and i tell you what, over the last month its just hasnt been the same!
its idling rough, but just ever so slightly. its got brand new platnum plugs and new leads and fully serviced less then 1 week ago.
it dosent seem to have the power it used to have, fuel consumption is up as well!
when i take off in 1st just normally it seems to miss.
One really weired thing ive noticed. when ever i start it up, it dosent crank a liittle then fire up like it used to, it just starts!!!! bang right there on the first crank!!! no engine cranking nothing!!! turn the key and straight up start!!!
any ideas would be great!!!... otherwise i need to take a day off and take it to holden
just for the record, im guessing the airflow meters playing up.... (cos its the only sensor i know under the bonnet)..lol

I,m no expert , but maybe its the o2 sensors on the exhaust . Sounds similar to other peoples experiences with this . Good luck .

Possible that you have a bad batch of fuel.
Blocked injector.
Any number of ECU controling sensors

O2 sensors playing havoc with your closed loop enrichment. Makes the car run rich, resulting it it feeling very doughy and chews fuel ;)

I've used Nulon's total fuel system cleaner with good results. It usually does the trick for me after I've used some bad fuel.
Hope that helps mate,
-Nick.

Man you have just written the scenario that exists with my mafless LS1 in my WH Statesman
Everything you said was happening to me
I took my car to Dick at 'RealtimeLS1' and he plugged in his laptop
The moment we started to drive off, he said 'I can see your problem already'
'One of your O2 Sensors is dead'
As I had only just replaced the O2 Sensors 6 weeks ago, I was a bit surprised
Sure enough, one WAS stuffed..
A new sensor fixed the problem INSTANTLY
Forget mucking around with Nulon etc

My last resort:
Remove the ignition leads and when putting them back on, make sure you get ALL of the air out when they push on so they are tight. Some times the engine bay heat can cause the air to expand and cause poor arc over voltage between the lead and the plug.
hey mate what brand of plugs did ya put in?

Sounds like a fuel issue to me. It's possible that you've picked up a belly of bad fuel with water contamination in it. It will still start well as the pulse width of you injector is smaller at idle than under load which is when any blockages will become evident as a "misfire". If your O2 sensors are ok (just being new doesn't mean they are working as required) and it was doing it before you changed the leads & plugs then it's time to look at fuel. Unfortunately, if it is bad enough no amount of bottled injector cleaner is going to fix it and it will need tank, pump, lines, injectors cleaned/replaced. I hope you keep your fuel dockets as you never know when you may need them.

The plugs are Ngk-r platnum
I have started looking at the fuel system myself, not sure if I should call the local injector cleaner guy to volume test and clean the injectors?
I don't Mind spending the money as long as I can
Get it fixed right. I'm a tradie and use the ute 4 work, I'm so busy at the moment that I can't book it in at Holden. But a friend of a friend will take a look tomorrow night. Hope he kicks some goals !

ALL FIXED... WOO HOO!!!
after spending
$68 pcv valve
$125 x 2 02 sensors
$80 platinum plugs
$80 plug leads
$100 to diagnose stuffed injectors
$260 for EIS to come out and clean the injectors
so the problem was No. 7 injector totally blocked
and im sure the rest of the injectors weren't that great!!
car now runs strong and smooth.
thanks for your heap fellas

Good news . And at least the rest of the stuff you replaced won't hurt either . :goodjob:

Might be worth investing in a better fuel filter now? I would have thought the standard filters would prevent at least 100% blockages
