Hi guys, I currently own a VR 5L and am very keen to get into a VE SS-V soon. Im making this thread simply to ask anyone that knows more than i do when is the best time to buy a brand new VE SS if you were in the position to?

I know there might be a new VF commodore announced soon that will probably drop the price of them, but will this drop happen straight away?
Also is it true that in June, the end of the financial year is the best time to buy?

Dealers are giving crazy deals on new cars atm, almost as low as the 2nd hand ones with low kays so its obviusly a good time to buy but do you think the prices will get much lower anytime soon??

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

No time like the present - there will always be a new model, so get in when it is good for you and enjoy.

cheers

FWIW I reckon the best time to buy something you're likely to hang onto for a while (house, car, computer, etc) is when exactly what you want is available and you can afford to buy it.

There's always going to be something newer available so I totally agree with Macca on this one! :)

If you wait to find the best deal available, you could potentially be waiting forever. For me, the satisfaction of ownership "now" far outweighs the few extra dollars you may have saved by waiting a while.

Cars will always come down in value, except rare ones, so if you can wait til the VF comes out then you may grab a bargain VE or you may even find a bargain in the meantime. Naturally when a new model comes out, the previous model takes a bit of a dive.
A lot of the time its about being in the right place at the right time.

A good time to buy a new car is at the end of the Month, any month.

There are normally sales target to be met and if they are short of sales , you just might get a better deal than normal........ You must shop around though .

Usually at the end of the month, calendar year, financial year etc. Most dealers are much keener to do deals around those times. But shop around including other makes if you can to give you a better perspective. That's what I did prior to purchasing my vess auto in 2007 (sold now). I even test drove the bfii xr6 turbo auto! That was an awesome car but the v8 was easier to live with...

i would say now, if Gm is cutting 50% production that means alot less stock for dealers, and less stock means less discount!

I've also asked myself that question and I've answered it the same way every time. I was about to embark on getting a VE SS myself but then I thought I'd get a HSV considering the bargains Holdens were offering. When the recession hit, I quickly decided against it in the case my job was cut. I'm waiting until the economy improves a little.

End of financial year or in January and get a previous year model. Reallt though if you have the coin to buy anytime is atm. Shop around and see what sort of a deal you can strike up.
