Yes it's hard to keep clean but when in good condition looks better than just about any other colour. I have a white car and clean it once a week haha. Cities are very dirty, so if ya don't mind spending an hour on the car on a weekend, plus a bit every now and then for wax application, I'd recommend the black :goodjob:

Yep ... as Evman said, hard to keep clean but not much beats black for depth of shine when in good nick.
Bit like painting the harbour bridge ... by the time you get to the other end you need to go back and start again.

As the guys said above it's a bitch to keep clean and you do have to wash it often, but when it is clean there's nothing like it.

its not just harder to keep clean. its also more obvious when it comes to swirl marks, scratches, dents, dirt, bird poop, the works.
you can be washing the thing and see the dust fall back on to it.
it is a great colour though.

A black car really stands out in the crowd. You always notice a black car over any other colour. They look great. Get black!!!
I wash mine once a week and it stays pretty good.
As long as you use the right wash/wax products and methods its not too bad... I have just switched to using Dodo gear and it looks even better...

Yep, Black is a pain in the ass.. but once cleaned and detailed nothing comes close to the deep shine of a black ride but, I do regret getting black and prob wont own another one after this one.. VooDoo is pretty dark so there wont be much difference i wouldnt think.
Either color will look shhhmick

ive owned black ,looks nice when you have washed it-untill you leave your driveway.plenty of depth in paint when polished-yes.
easy to hide blemish"s. scratch"s,stone chips etc..(which you inevitably get)-NO.-never again.
i have a voodoo ute,ive had quite a few blues on my cars over the years its by far the best ive had yet.it can look dark or light because of the mica in the paint. and comes up beautifull when waxed and is much better to keep clean. but honestly it all comes down to how anal you are with your cars appearance i suppose

Mate i have the voodoo metalic ute and it is hard to keep clean but it doesnt show the dirt as much as the black seems too. Only problem with the voodoo is that when there is a stonechip thats a decent size it stands out so if you pick voodoo get a touchup pen and keep ontop of the chips. They do happen like it or not.
Voodoo has a whole new color when the sun shines too. Black is black but voodoo has so many different sides to it in the sun.
Just my opinion of course and i be a little bias towards voodoo did you guess???:lmao:
Best of luck anyway mate,
Andy.

i have had just about every color made in the last 10 years, black would be my favorite, yes its a bit of a pain, but if you love ya car, spending time on it is half the fun, Voodoo is real nice but i think black just unreal!
Good luck on ya decision, either way you will love it!

I was in the same frame of mind as every one here, I wanted black but couldnt live with the constant maintanance so ended up getting atomic and I am really pleased with it as I use this as a work ute and it will be lucky to see a bath once weekly after 1500kms and still cant really notice the dirt. The general rule is the darker the colour the more maintanance you will have to do to keep its appearance nice.

Black = Worst Colour Ever
Looks absolutely awesome when its clean but thats about where the fun stops. On my old white ute I could leave it for a few weeks without cleaning and it still would look good. With my new ute I can spend 6 hours washing, polishing, waxing... and two days later it looks filthy again and most of the time it is just sitting in my driveway. It shows up every single little imperfection and is a pain in the arse to keep looking good. Simple things like walking past it and disturbing the "dust" layer on it shows up. :vpo:
My opinion go any other colour other than black.

Black cars are a bit like having a sexy girlfriend that never lets you do anything on your own.
Awesome when you first meet her, but later on you can't wait to get rid of her, as she's way too high maintenance to keep.

True mate, But F@#k dose she look good all tarted up and hanging off your arm, everybody wonting a bit,
My cars black ,
the only problem is ,
I wish it was matt black .
Not a fan of mirror shinny cars .
Other than that , once you've had black ..........
oh , in the end you've got to be happy with the colour you choose .
Even if you get the ultimate bargain ,
you don't wanna wake up in the middle of the night ,
realizing you now own a purple ute :bawl:

Black cars are also near invisible in certain light conditions. Near accidents seem to come just that little bit more often...

As per comments above. Keeping clean. Biggest problem I have with black is swirl marks. My dealer decided to have a go at the bonnet with a buffer to clean up some paint problems. Has left bad swirl marks. Keep it clean and polished you'd never know but it means more hard work......:bawl:

The guys are right - it's not just washing every weekend, there is a lot of polishing in your life with a black one. It's all worth it for the 20min it's clean, especially at sunset. I'll have another.

My other half has a black 4wd. Takes bloody ages to clean it. When we first got it I was like woo hooo it looks awesome now that I have cleaned it all up.
Love looking at it when is all clean but come the next day you get all the dust on it and fly sh!t and it's like a slap in the face. Worse even is if you're driving home at night and the council has the sprinklers on and you get sprayed. Water spots arghghg.
The whole novelty has worn off a bit a few months down the track.
Damm black cars look good, but if you're pedantic about it being clean and dont have the time to make it so it will do your head in.

my car is dirty about 1 hour after i wash it, it just attracts these fine dust particles, is there a way to put something on the car to resist these particles? but i would never buy another color again, i think resale is best on black, and if only for an hour it looks horn IMO
cheers
fine dust particles make it dirty?
my car lasts till about tuesday before i would call it dirty, i wash it every weekend

all comes down to personal preference.
if u pedantic and like to clean the car etc then black is easy to maintain...with the RIGHT TOOLS!
i have owned a blue VT, Black HSV VXII R8 and now a black VE SSV.
biggest tip for a black car even if u get it new...get a clean base on it
as in get a professional if u dont trust urself and get them to buff it clean.
when u start from a clean base ie: no swirls, holigrams, etc then high quality polish and wax its just a matter of right washing products and technique and it comes up shiny, deep and  worthy every single simple quick wash :D

My car is black, but I don't mind if it gets dirty. At the end of the day, its a daily driver for the wife and of course its going to get dirty, i just get over it. Wash it once a week.
It does piss you off however when it gets dirty minutes after you've washed it...

Yeah, black is shocking to keep clean. The missus got a white car to avoid this issue but the filthy sydney roads put black muck up the side of the car every time it rains!

I have a black vx. yeah they are a pain to keep clean, but with the right tools and the know how, they are the best looking color when done right. i dont think i would go it another color again, go with the black if you enjoy keeping your car clean and dont mind a bit of polish each week

who actually polishes their car every week?
wouldn't it be un-practical and not to mention paint wearing.

I can only agree with most of the sentiments above. I used to have a raven blue SS (OK not black, but it is a dark colour), and i just got really sick of it looking dirty so quickly. Having said that I spend more time on my Fusion coloured Monaro!
If you don't mind spending the time on it, go Black.

Does get dirty quickly but weekly washing keeps it looking OK.
Worst is fingerprints and stupid passengers hang their hands out the window :(

one day of hard work involving a clay bar, zaino Z5 or Z2 sealant/polish and a few washes in between will keep it looking schmick for about 6 months with nothing but a high pressure rinse every few weeks needed to keep it looking that way..

Having to polish it every week is complete BS, I prob polish mine once every 3 months and its always shiny. Zero swirl marks as well.
When I polish it I do the whole car in Meguires Sratch remover
http://www.meguiars.com.au/Images/products_April2008/paint_care/Lproduct_G10307.jpg
, then the whole car in Meguires Polish
http://www.meguiars.com.au/Images/products_April2008/paint_care/Lproduct_A2116.jpg
, then the whole car in Meguires wax
http://www.meguiars.com.au/Images/products_April2008/paint_care/Lproduct_A2216.jpg
. Hard job but well worth it for the results. All done with microfibre towels.
http://www.meguiars.com.au/Images/products_April2008/applicators_cloths/Lproduct_AG3030.jpg
Then every weekend it gets washed at home with cold tap water and Meguires car wash
http://www.meguiars.com.au/Images/products_April2008/paint_care/Lproduct_A2516.jpg
with a wool mitten
http://www.meguiars.com.au/Images/products_April2008/wash_accessories/Lproduct_AG1015.jpg
and chamoised dry
http://www.meguiars.com.au/Images/products_April2008/wash_accessories/Lproduct_AG6000.jpg
then given a complete going over with Mothers detailer spray (this stuff is awesome)
http://www.mothers.com/02_products/product/images/08224.jpg
Every weekend I get people saying just polished the car hey? Even if its been 3 months since its last polish.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/markrice/n712543958_922906_8357-1.jpg
Had this car since near new and would definately go black again no hesitation.
Obviously some factors will affect your personal results, mines kept in a sealed garage so if yours is always outside it will probably need polish/wax more often.....
