Hey fellas,

After owning a vy ss and vx gts in the past i have recently bought another vy ss with work already done. The reason for this thread is that i cannot find vy head and cammed 1/4 mile threads, and id like to know what 1/4 mile times i can achieve with my current power and tyres i am going to use.

here are my specs.

03 vy with-

mafless tune
unknown cam ( i think in the high 220's ), very lumpy
241 ported heads
twin 3 inch exhaust with no cats, pacemaker extractors.
25% ud
otr
fuel pump upgrade bosch intank.
upgraded injectors
upgraded valve springs

i havent done the work obviously but this was the mod list i recieved along with a dyno sheet of 316.4 rwk.

I am a fan of drag racing and i would like to know what the cars potential would be with my current power, i will be running my 19 inch wheels with maxxis 255 wide tyres firstly and also carry a set of 18 inch wheels with semis. How would i go with the street tyres versus the semi slicks (re55).??

Im after peoples experiences with similiar setups to mine and what tyres they have used and what times they have achieved.

cheers fellas

with that sort of mumbo and on street tyres, providing you can get around a 2.0-2.2 second 60' time i rekcon a high 12. with proper M/T street radials an 11 second pass should be a walk in the park.

With those mods and with that power, you will be wasting your time on 19" street tyres. Definately use the semi slicks to get the full potential. If it hooks up you should get mid 11's. Is it auto or manual?

From my own experience with similar mods; My car has 288rwkw through a high stall. I went to heathcote 3 weeks ago with my 18" street tyres. I got 12.5 with a 2.0 60ft. I went today with MT street radials. I got 11.8 with a 1.67 60ft. Tyres make a huge difference. Good luck.

id say about 115mph and high 12's on street tyres.

That sort of power should run mid 11's on slicks, then practise for a lower result.

19 & 18" are going to be a waste. u want a tyre with some sidewall flex.

Comes down to your setup and how proficient you are at chaning gears.
A mates VYSS with decent stick and heads, 4500 stall, ET streets and less power than your quoting ran 11.2 @ 123mph.
If your genuinely making that power then 10's are possible, all things considered.

i pull 7.750 @ 90.73 mph on the 1/8th...manualised, head and cam, diff gears

M6, shifting is key. I dropped half a second just by changing my shifting method at a private day last yet. 12.9 to 12.4, same 60ft.
