wow! what a blast....
the weather couldn't have been much better, around 10c later in the night, with no rain in sight....
The first time I've run the SS down the strip - street tyres and full exhaust - and managed consistent 14.1's, with four runs in the high 13's, a best of 13.89 @ 103.05mph
A big thanks to ACIQSS and Heathcote Raceway for excellent organisation, and the DYO trophy :bounce: :D :bounce:
:burnout:

Craig ran a best of 12.87@111.5mph
PlanB ran a 11.87 @ 116mph
mattlowth ran 12.3 @ 123.45mph with a 2.35 60' time...
Emre ran a 124.45mph...... so assume it was in the 11sec bracket (best was around the 11.7 mark)
mattlowth and spiZed both blew clutches and sounds like Craig wont be far off getting his replaced as well
cat12z ran a 12.1 @ 111mph
...thats all I have at the moment
edit: updated figures
Updated Andy's thread with some more accurate times.
Yep it was a great night of racing.
The boys from Sydney came down and pretty much showed us Mexicans how it's done.
Some nice times from some of the stockers too, but I'll let them post their slips.
Went for a trip down the strip in the PlanB ute, and all I can say is that it hauls ass. Puts you back in your seat and before you know it, the 1/4 mile is over. A lot of fun.

PLAN.B was just awesome! he launched like a bat out of hell!...i rocked up with Ghosn's yellow CV8 who managed a 14.6@99mph 100% stock.... was a good nite and hope to see some of you on 17th may at CCC heathcote =)

Had an enjoyable night only spoilt by the trip back home... cops were out in force and i got done - $200 + 3 points
First time ever down a strip and I ran it stock as a rock, take into account I was launching with 18s and standard PSI in the tyres. "REAL" street trim.
14.6@99mph with 2.5 60ft'er was my best run but my average would have been 14.7
Thanks erik for a great night and an enjoyable experience, Good Job

I left about 10:35 and the only cop I saw was a divvy van on the other side of the M1 - he'd already pulled someone over.

Wow what a day  I got driven up there in excellent luxury and power in Craigs GTS, we where kickin arse before we even got there, see at broadmeadows we pulled up at some lights and we had a WRX pull up next to us and nudge foward and rev a bit, now consider the weight of craigs GTS, plus craig, me and brad in it plus the two wheels in the boot, trolley jack etc, we where pretty loaded up, it was on, light went green craig launched like a champion, I thought hey this thing moves, the snap into second 'holy shit' the wrx had a little on us but we reeled him in quick and past him (had to give him the wave on the way past :D but gave him the thumbs up at the lights) that was fun.
We where a bit worried by the weather as it was cold and raining in broadmeadows but the closer we got to heathcote the sunnier it got which was good and it stayed perfect till the end, Peter and Craigs utes where awesome, ran some very good times and I was extremely fortunate enough for Peter to take me for a rip down the strip in the PLAN B ute, it was sensational, for the entire 400m your slammed back in your seat as it gets quciker and quicker, cant help but have a ear to ear smile on your face.
The racing was good but as the night ended a few car loads of us went to bendigo for dinner and to see the sights (or skanks as we call them) felt sorry for laPorchettas, they where dead and about to close up i think, next thing they know 30 odd people walk in  and that was it we went home, we came seperated from the group, we finally cought up to Jim, Rohan and the GTO (they must have been sitting on 60) we snuck up on them we could hear the whole conversation over the UHF they didnt have a clue what car it was, who it was , why we werent overtaking etc, we got the overtake lane and gave it a blip past them, if we could only see there faces
Just a few thanks:
Craig- For driving me up there and back
Peter (PLAN B)- For the ride in the ute, wont be forgetting that one in a hurry,
Rob (ROBVXR8)- Thanks heaps for the loan of the helmet, I was peaking was nearly going to miss out on the ride in the ute if I didnt find a helmet that could actaully fit.
Awsome Night....!!!!
Thanks for organising it Erik and Troy!!
I ran a 13.87sec @ 102.2mph
I think I'll head up again sometime next month.

Hi
I had an EXCELLENT time at Heathcote only to be spoiled by my own wrong doing......SHORT SLEEVE SHIRT!!! I was asked to pull off the track....BUGGER and had nothing with long sleeves with me.....SILLY ME.
Anyway thanks to Troy and Erik for organising what I call a great night/event and was much more fun than Calder Park the night before which I paid $55 for two runs only. I must have had at least 7/8 runs for $40, now that is excellent value! And people actually talk to each other at the ls1/Heathcote night and made it more of a good social event.
Thanks to the guys with the red/burgundy two door skyline for letting me use their trolley jack, it was much appreciated. And all you people with video cameras that recorded my 17.?? second passes, DELETE THEM NOW as they were most embarrising!
I did a best of 13.4 at 102.8mph for the night. Also thanks to Luke with the red vx r8 clubby for letting me use his bootspace for storage.
regards,
Richard

It was an awesome night guys - thanks to Eric for organising it! I'll definitely be up for the next one...
My best run for the night was a 12.38 @ 123.45 as mentioned above and that was in full street trim (no semi comps either)... My 60ft times were very ordinary at 2.35sec. Traction was pretty ordinary on the street tyres, as I wasn't able to floor it till I was into 3rd (which was obviously hurting my mph and times)...
I had a set of nitto's to run with, however they were fitted to rims which didn't fit under the back of my car
My last run for the night was well on the way to being my best of the night as it had gotten colder and I'd lowered my tyre pressure a bit more, however as I changed into 4th, the clutch decided it'd had enough racing and started slipping. The mph at half track was 2mph higher than any of my other runs too, so it probably would have been a 125mph pass.
Oh well, I'm pretty stoked with a 12.3 on my first outing, and bring on the next meet! :)
Cheers,
matt

The best!
Erik & Troy, thanks for organising a great evening. All of you guy’s would have to be the most hospitable bunch of blokes around.
Big thanks to Mike for meeting us at Bendigo, organising our accommodation and showing us to the track.
The dial your own event was fun, so was the ability to take passengers. I can’t believe I still managed a few 12.0’s with some of you blokes. BTW, my tyres are rooted now so for those who travelled, don’t clap, just send money. :D
Russell, who owns the track “lives for it”. I mean what a track and how passionate is he about car set-up’s. cat12z would vouch for that!
We had a great weekend and none of us could shut up about it all the way home.
Thanks again. I’d like to think we and a few more of us Sydney folk would be welcome to any future events like this.
Cheers
Pete.

Thanks again to all the organisers. That was definitely $40+$10 well spent as i racked up 23 passes in the last 2 events. Try doing that at Calder...!!!
Got my best ET of 11.49 in the previous event and my best mph of 124.41 last night and am very pleased with both.
Congrats to everyone who recorded their PB and sympathies to the 2 blokes i raced with during the bracket racing. They both broke out and let me to the next level.

Has anyone experienced more than usual axle tramp last night.
My car has fairly stiff suspension and i occasionally get a bit of axle tramp, but last night it was out of control for me. Could not get a decent launch all night.

Your guys utes were awesome too! Was that the first time you'd run an 11 sec pass?
What sort of 60ft times were you running?
I can't get over just how quick these cars are... I mean with just simple bolt ons everyone's doing 13 sec 1/4s... Just a few years ago, it was only the really quick cars that were doing 13's, now it's just par for the course! Gotta be happy with that! :)

Thanks. I've run slower 11's up here in Sydney recently over the last 2 meets. ssgen3 runs 11's also but with bigger MPH. 117+ But your mph must be mind blowing in a total street car set-up!

Mind you I usually never wheel spin, so for those who saw last night. Did I wheel spin? Much? lol
Last night = anywhere from 2.forevers to 1.7's for the first 60' but second gear would also go up in smoke. Good fun though.

It was a top evening of racing and I was wrapped with the results...
Consistently in the 13.9's to 14.1's with 101-103mph times. After I got knocked out of DYO by the 17 sec. Corolla  I decided to pak everything back into the boot. Spare, Sub box, etc etc..
Then at around 8.45 when they announced the grudge racing was starting I thought... well lets see how it runs with full street spec.
:deal: best ET was 13.8002 @ 103.91 mph but best mph  was 104.99 from my previous best run of 13.825..
Extremely happy overall and looking forward to catching up with you all soon.

Ahh heres the thread I have been looking for :D
For starters I will say a big thanks to Erik and Troy for putting together another great night of racing, top job guys
I was nearly going to call it quits when all I could see was rain outside in Melbourne, was bloody glad I went, was near perfect conditions for the cars but not for the humans, farken cold :errr:
Was also great to see the Sydney contingent come down and show us Mexicans how to do it properly, some serious times and mph run by both on the night too, great bunch of guys as well
I seem to have a 100-102mph ute, can't get the bugger to go any faster but at least it is consistant, best time last night was a 13.65@101.95, got a 13.68@102.13 later in the night.
The right lane sucked for my ute, tramped itself to bits, left lane was fine, just floor and go :D

Well done..

I had an absolute ball especially watching cat12z and PlanB.
Well after some major axle tramp problems and some shocker times i worked out my tyre pressures and rpm launch i managed a 13.59 @ 106.1mph.
But after some tech talk with James (JBondSS) i pulled off a ripper of 13.44 @ 105.3mph im looking forward to LS1 Edit to improve my times.
Thanks to
Scud (Damo), James (JBondSS), Stu (Large), Jim (ExecJim), My GF Kerrie, Scott, Lloyd, for all there moral support and also for there tech talk to help me with my times. It was a Team effort.
Also big thanks to Eric and Troy for another excellent event.

Well done to Erik/Troy for organising the event. Didnt get to see/do too much racing as I was running late, but managed to have a few runs and do a 14.3@97mph with the LSD single spinning alot (I never have good luck at Heathcote).
I noticed more and more people are running semi-comps on smaller rims (or slicks), so Im gonna take note and go down the same path... as I was axle tramping/spinning a bit off the line.

PLAN B …….. you put on a great show with your super-sonic gear changes and awesome times. Both Sydney cars were very impressive.
Craig ……. Welcome to 12s…. you finally got there.
Matt and Emre ……………… both cars doing 124 mph……... awesome results for daily driven cars in 100% street trim.
Matt if you got those Nittos on, you should be doing 11s easy, (with a new clutch)
The 240z had a bad day as on 1st run it popped off the cooler hose and on 2nd run the clutch went “BOOM” into pieces.
Looks like I’ll have to settle for 12.12 @ 117 mph for now. The weather condition were perfect as even Emre picked up 3 mph since last time.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone involved in making Saturday such a great night! - my first time at a forum event!
Though I didn't run on the night, I still met some great guys and got plenty of useful info on mods, and got to put faces to names (Great to meet you Large, ClubVX & Craig, RobVXR8, Moddo, YPlay4).
The trip home wasn't so great, with the coppers picking me up just out of Heathcote going down the hill doing 135 in a 100 zone!
Never been picked up before, and now to my shock got a $360 fine, 6 demerit points and a 6 Month walking pass! - Pricks! And it seems like I wasn't the only 1.
Anyone tried to contest a speeding fine such as this, if so, would be interested in knowing the details!
Thanks again, and hope to catch up with you all soon!
I'm surprised at the amount of people who got picked up by the police just outside of Heathcote.
Especially considering the announcer made a rather straight-forward broadcast that there 'might be some police presence just outside of Heathcote', or words to that affect.
Maybe the guys that got done, left early and didn't hear this?
Never been to a drag strip before - I suspect I saw how things are meant to run, not how they normally do. Was impressed with the number of runs people were able to get, and how smooth and quick things went. Top marks for Eric and Troy for organising.
Ended up leaving very early - aside being bloody cold, the wife wasn't feeling the best. She did vote Plan B as the best sounding car there on the night.
The cops were still tucked up in bed when we went through Heathcote. (Well, parked out front the station.) Sounds like they got busy later.

Good fun. great meal afterwards and the night life at Bedigo rocks.
We got shown the town by the track owner Russell afterwards and I never slept. The run between Plan B and myself was a highlite for us to. Bugger got me by 0.032seconds. :D
Definately the best drag racing night so far!
Craig. :bounce:

Thanks to eric and troy for organising a great event!!
I too had traction and axle tramp problems towards the end of the night, never had axle tramp before......
My 2 best runs were 15.2@90 mph,the second one came with a bit of wheelspin,i am pretty happy with the times it pulled considering its a stocker,i was hoping to sneak a 14 sec pass in tho......
On the way home,i never saw any coppers, which was nice!!:)
i also managed to do 2.2 60 foot times aswell...
I also will give the drags a miss for now, after a few mods it will be back....
:burnout: :burnout: :burnout:
cheers phil.

What I found rather funny was Plan B and Cat12z avoiding each other in the DYO competition, and then both get knocked out!!!!!!!!!! ;)
Cat12z "Damn its Plan B"
Plan B "what????"
Plan B laughing :D
Cat12z "eeerrrr, quick lets do a quick oil consumption test"
A stock looking ute trundles by,
'Stock'man" Oh fanatastic I have to run Plan B"
Plan B laughing still!
Utes line up..... Win to 'Stock'man
Cat12z "er no, we're fine we're not using oil, quick line up"
'Stock SS' man " Oh goody I have to run Cat12z!"
Win to 'StockSS'man!!!
Of course I have changed the names to protect the innocent!!!!:D
I hope you 2 guys come down again soon to show us Mexicans how its done coz the Utes were pretty special, as Bruce would say!!
I successfully avoided a trip in one of their utes, I saw the look on MrSenator's face when he got out!!!!:errr:
motomk - "No I''ll think I'll stick to the Battlecruiser for the moment!!!":)

..... Just got back from Heathcote last night (Monday) for the third time in three days. :flipoff:
Erik & Troy ..... Onya again for putting the night together.
As for 'Caleys' times ......Looks like a valve spring is snapped or a major electrical issue. So no times were run, had to get the wife up with a trailor and take it over to Starr. Not Happy.
Well done to all, some sensational times ..... :burnout:

I was the one who told them to make an announcement... I'm surprised ppl actually got done!
As you said, it was probably people who left early - I didn't see any on the way back...

Especially considering the announcer made a rather straight-forward broadcast that there 'might be some police presence just outside of Heathcote', or words to that affect.
Maybe the guys that got done, left early and didn't hear this?

I was pretty disappointed with me effort, quickest time I got was a 15.45 and that was with my mate in the car. ( Terrible... Terrible... Terrible...)
Left early, I got a bit thirsty    didn't see the boys in blue tho...

Hehehe, i had only had my lisence for 6 days and i ran a 15.5!!! :stick:
Just stirring..... and i might add, that was with axle tramp off the line then spinning out sideways! heheheehe

Excellent work Erik, great night. It was freezing though...
Again, the first run was my best, and also PB of 13.59 @ 103.67mph, which I'm pretty happy with.
CCC are holding another drag nite on the 17th of May & I think need a few spots filled.. further info at http://www.commodoreclub.net/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Cruiseup
Next time I might try some different rear tyres, I was very concerned about the mass axle tramp and wheels spin experienced this night that has never happened before at heathcote. 1st to 2nd shifts were particulary "slippery" with the rear end skating around the track, but despite what seemed to be bad launches, I still acheived best times
BTW, for those wondering (and for those thought there was wank factor in my aerials... ) those were CB aerials on the boot, they're not there for decoration but for practical purpose to ensure both CB bands have adequate coverage for long distance communications...

For those experiencing axle tramp I would be looking at your suspension setups

Yeah, it's cool once you get going - I was crossing the line at about 198km/h... I'm just happy the car lived up to expectations as far as Mph goes...
Last night = anywhere from 2.forevers to 1.7's for the first 60' but second gear would also go up in smoke. Good fun though.
heh - I'd kill for 1.7's! :) Is that ute of yours fully set up for drag, or is the suspension etc all still street tuned?

Even though most of us havent done any suspension changes since the last Heathcote meet?...
Hmm, seems to me track surface changes (perhaps an uneven spraydown of VHT?) are repsonsible for showing the inadequacies of our current suspension setups. :hmmm:

sidey, you should have been on the track:idea: just as we started racing:burnout: i was doing 2.5 and 2.7 60 ft:flipoff: the track was that slippery, the car was spinning in all 3 gears, or should i say tramping:(
the track did get better after about 2 hours of racing, but i think you will find most of us non slick drivers still couldnt launch that hard:p

What would Dyno time have to do with it?

Medium size cam ,less rpm +blower, =more power less stress.

May have a couple of options:
Valve springs rated to 585th lift ???? Which is higher rated than the lift of the CAM at 580th ????
Previous set of springs I believe were rated 550.
Second option .... Heads off and into Higgins for fittment of 1.44 (??????) valve springs from the current 1.3's. Looking at a S/c down the track so may do this option.
Third option ....... GIVE UP AND START TO MOD THE FORD EB. :(
Hope its appropriate for this info on this thread. :) Just the feedback would be good, thanks for the PM's to date on thoughts as to the probs aswell dudes.
