Has anyone else heard that there may be a recall on the VE's due to airbags inflating unexpectedly. Considering there a heaps of VE's out there, this would be a massively expensive and time consuming exercise. Maybe someone from Holdens on here could shed a bit of light, thats if there is any light to shed.

haha i hardly doubt the airbags would go off unexpectedly considering i rear ended someone at 110kmh the other week and the airbags didnt even go off then, in a year old car, thanks holden.

A recall would be pointless bcause 2 many clutches stick on the way in and nobody would turn up.

Your complaint is a classic example of a common misunderstanding of the SRS system.
Airbags are not soft fluffy pillows! They should only go off when the seatbelts and pretensioners are not capable of preventing you smashing into the windscreen/steering wheel etc. SRS stands for Supplementary Restraint System. This means they are there to assist the other safety systems, not automatically guarantee they will activate in any accident.
As you are clearly still alive and breathing, with enough energy left to complain about something, the airbags were not required to protect you. If the airbags had gone off, they quite likely would have broken a rib or broken your nose my friend....:teach:
Thank the super strong VE passenger cell instead. :)

Did you end up seriously injured?
Airbags are violent explosions, and often injure people, with either cuts, broken bones or burn injuries from the gas escaping. You never want one going off if the rest of the car can keep you alive with minimal if any injuries.

He he - lol SV346.
On a serious note I havent heard of this problem. Yes it would be an expensive exercise if they found there was an issue with the bags. Perhaps if it was a sensor or a calibration issue which could be fixed by Tech2 then it woundnt be so bad. If there is an issue and it was the later I would assume it would be done as a service tweak.
