Was just thinking, is anyone on here lucky enough to own one of these diagnostic tools for thier own use.

Would be nice to program your own keys, enable certain modes, other tasks only the dealer can do. :)

A lot of Forum sponsors on here have a Tech 2. The aftermarket scan tools such as Hannatech or Carman pretty much do whatever a Tech 2 can do, they've got software engineers reverse engineering the stuff all day every day. The aftermarket stuff can certainly do key recoding.

It would be nice to have but the cost of it just isnt justified for the home user. I've needed a Tech II twice since I've owned my car. Once to program a key and once to reset the SRS system. I get on well enough with my dealer that they don't charge me for those kinds of things anyway.

Tech 2 for yourself? LOL.
Wish I had a spare $10,000 and it certainly wouldn't be going towards a Tech 2.

Handy little bits of kit though. And I have never dropped it.:)

Id like tech 2, The Hannatech cant do all rhe things Tech 2 can. Mostly SRS shit.

Then there are the software updates for Tech 2. Anyones guess how much they would charge for these or if you could get them under some agreement.
