the twin 3" is loud enough without removing the centre muffler, if for a street application I would not recommend it unless you enjoy swapping exhausts all the time as you will be reported to the EPA a lot, trust me it's a real pain.

I recall people doing it on here, but the verdict is it doesn't make it that much louder at all just more popping and crackling on deceleration.

Ow the center section is a resonator not a muffler. :goodjob:

Put some extractors on. I have a DF extractors with 3" cats and the twin 3" Xforce system. Its heap loud and has a real deep note to it. Definately not legal though.

Must admit I agree with Steve judging by worknssv's ute with Xforce 3", 1 7/8" Pacies and Sureflo Ballistic 100 cpsi cats. Has only been on a week so will possibly still get louder and deeper and is plenty loud already. vessm, what extractors and cats do you have?

Hey Chris,

Bolted the standard mufflers back on and got 90dB, legal limit is 90db so  for me....a massive PITA though!

I have a 3" cat back xforce....its quite loud...not over the top and you can drive it a bit quiet keeping the revs low.

When you open it up they sound great.....would not want it any louder

I have a xforce 3" system about 1 week old and i am not happy with the sound so far even though i am told it will get better.
I am about to remove my centre muffler, but want to know if its worth doing. Has anyone done this.
This seams to be the cheapest way to get more noise, plus i can always put it back on i guess. Extractors and headers will come in due course.
I have a varex system on mine so think it will make her legal when its closed.

if you gonna do headers then dont touch the exhaust.

the headers will make it louder for sure. I have 4 mufflers on my ve. 2 in the middle back to back and 1 each side on the rear and mine is still loud. but you get that with a cam/blower and dual 3"

Heard an x-force dual 3" with rear mufflers removed the other day. It was only running twin straight throughs just after the cat... it shook the garage it was that loud!

When swapping the mufflers a while ago, I thought why not start her up and give it a rev, was so loud I couldn't hear myself yell out to my son to come and listen, and yes shook the garage too!
