Hi,
From what I have read and been advised LPG is much more sensitive to faults with plugs and leads and many other things.
Anyone have any advice as to what Plugs and leads have proven performance when running on LPG ?
MSD Leads ( which have low resistance ) seem to be the go from what I have been advised todate.
With the plugs I have been advised that you can reduce the gap by about .1mm over the standard gap.
I checked out some bosch leads the other day which stated in large print they were LPG compatible. ( Seemed cheap but didn't have them for the 6 ltre )
What makes a lead LPG compatible compared to a normal lead ?
Thanks for any help & advice.
Mike

I've used NGK plugs and leads on both cars i've owned with LPG, never had any issues. Saying that any respectable brand of plug/lead should be fine. Just make sure you keep the ignition system in A1 nick, as you said it shows up faults easier.
"LPG Compatible" is just a marketing gimmic so they can sell it for a higher price.

Just another thing to keep in mind copper plugs will work better than anything else. I have read on some lpg forums platinum plugs and lpg work but puts a considerable load on ignition systems eg coils etc. How true this statement is god knows but something to think about.

G'day Mike,
Although my car is ecotec v6 powered I thought I'd 'share' my experience with LPG and upgraded ignition systems. It's a "factory fitted" dual fuel VYII Exec' with MSD coilpacks, topgun leads and bosch fusion spark plugs..
When I first bought the car, I changed the leads and plugs (TG leads, standard NGK ecotec plugs) and I didn't really notice much of a difference.
Some months later I came across the coilpacks at a price I couldn't refuse and bought the bosch spark plugs my local supersh*t auto the following day.
Unfortunately, I cannot say which of the two my car had gained the most from, however I did notice an improvement in fuel economy and driveability.
I believe that MSD coilpacks are a waste of time on a LSX motor and that your choice of spark plug will probably effect your car the most. You should probably seek more information from the LPG fitter and/or your tuner..
Below, is a link to some information about the plugs.
Bosch fusion spark plugs (http://www.boschautoparts.com/Products/SparkPlugs/IrFusion.htm)
I hope that helps..
-Nick.

I run the stock "red" Holden LS1 leads & NGK TR6 plugs.
20000km on LPG & zero issues.
Bare in mind Mike ... yours was tuned with Brand "X" spark plugs in it, changing them to something else MAY have an effect on things, albeit minor.

Since we're talking about the 6-litre V8 here, I'm assuming that you've got either an SVI or LI system fitted. In that case, just stick to the factory iridium or platinum plugs. You may lose a little bit of plug life but you should still get close to 80,000km between changes.

Dave

Changed them recently after 20000km on LPG as a precaution and they looked fine.
Bracket thingy was a bust as the pedal remains woeful and uninspiring. Looks good though.
