Hi All,
First time post so be kind:)

Anyway, was wondering if it were possible the remove the supercharger from our VT V6 Calais and just replace it with a standard manifold?

Any particular reason why?

The supercharger manifold bolts up the same way as a NA manifold does.

The L67 has a lower compression ratio (8.5:1 to the N/A 9.4:1) so you will need to either have the heads worked over or swap out the pistions to bump it up. Then there is tuning issues, plumbing etc

Not worth your hassle mate :)

Supercharged motors have the fuel injectors in the cylinder heads. N/A motors have the fuel injectors in the manifolds. You would either have to swap the heads over, or figure out a way of permanently plugging those holes. Realistically you are looking at a top end swap over at the minimum, all to turn the motor into a low compression dog.
I have to agree though. WHY?

There are a lot of detail differences between the two engines including the fact that the injectors for the L67 (supercharged engine) being located in the cylinder head and the injectors for the standard engine being located in the inlet manifold. If you replaced the heads and manifold it would possibly work but as the above post asked "Why?????"

I'll have to learn to type faster, you beat me to it

Pull the supercharged engine and replace it with a complete N/A engine. For the price of a VT V6 these days I dont believe the hassle of converting your supercharged engine back to N/A is worth it. If you then on sell the charged engine you should end up with left over cash in your pocket.. :D

Although, +1 as to why?? Is it a P plate resriction thing??

put it on sequential injected gas like i did to my VY calais. great stuff and no loss of power and cheap to run.

Firstly,
Thanks to all for the prompt reply.

The reason is the P Plate restriction. Passing the car on to my son. Maybe I should just take the badge off !

Thanks again.

Keep it stock standard, (standard wheels, exhaust, suspension, etc) and put Ecotec V6 badges on and tell your son to drive like grandma (well, sensibilly anyway) and he should not have a problem.

If the cops run the plates, wouldn't their computers show that the car is a S/C V6? Or arn't their computers that advanced? lol

I think the law allows for a p Plater to drive the car in this case. That's how some of them get around the restrictions anyway.

Just take a risk with it i spose, also get the 10psi pully added on for him :) I'm in the proccess of doing that to my missus SC VX V6

And what happens if he has an accident?
I would assume that he wouldn't be covered.
