Hey guys,
I have noticed that my light switch for the headlights, foggies etc is not illuminated. I have been told that they are supposed to be illuminated and the dash kinda looks incomplete without that light at night.
Ive also been told its an LED and not a globe so it cant blow..
Any ideas on how to get it going again or what the problem could be? Which fuse would it be connected to? Ive checked all the fuses that could be it and none of them are blown..
Thanks guys,
Cheers
Any Ideas?
They are in fact incandescent (filament globe) The globes them selves are not covered by an individual fuse.. It/they have simply blown for some reason and require replacement. If you're are going to replace them I would change them over to LED (covered in a thread in the forum somewhere)

Thanks,
The thing is you cant get to the globe..
I got the switch out of the dash and you cant get inside the actual device. (Does not open up).. either that or its some sort of other way to open it and get to the globe..
Cant believe Holden hasn't covered it in the Drivers Manual!

u have to pry the plastic tabs to get them open they are a bit tricky to get back together aswell.. they are Bulbs in there aswell ive changed all my dash lights to blue.. you might be better off buyin a 2nd hand one on ebay theres no reason they should just stop working..

This prob isnt the problem but better ask on the light wsitch you see that it has a switch to move it up brighter or down lighter. Try pushing it all the way up brighter. Im not sure if there diff in the VY SS i have a VY SS series 2 and i know if my switch is down i cant see the dash or lights switch light up either.:)

Thanks guys, just checked my car again and the dimming thing doesn't work at all, as well as the globe still, so could it be that my switch is just faulty? Should I get a new one off ebay? What else could it be?
I will be near a Holden spare parts tomorrow so just need someone to tell me weather its worth picking one up or not whether it will solve the problem...
Ebay dont have them.

This is common, these globe do blow, I have replaced these switches on two previous cars just to get the illumination on the switch back.

Looks like ill be picking a new switch up! I just hope that it'll work and be illuminated, and I hope the dimming feature works too..
Anyone know how much these switches will cost at Holden spare parts?

If you really want to know ask in the Part Numbers thread (Australian LS1 and Holden Forums (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=22874)) as a few guys who do most of the responding in there work in Parts at a dealer.
It'll certainly be easier to just replace if you're not tech minded to be honest.. They do pull apart as I've done it.. fairly easy in my mind. From memory the actual knob was the hardest thing to get off (still easy though).. It was for modding the switch for driving lights (I don't have the fog light loom)

FRESH DRAMA!
Went down to Holden spare parts and bought a new switch.. Went into the car and tested to make sure right there. NO ILLUMINATION! I went back and got a refund.. and heres the thing..
I really cant remember if the switch was actually illuminated or not? Can anyone confirm that VY SS Series 1 has an illuminated Light switch?
If it is meant to be illuminated, what can the problem be? Its not the globe inside, its not my original unit, could it be electrical and where to from here? Anyone ever copped anything like this? Fu*ken Holdens!
Thanks guys

It's a long time ago now (4+ years) but I can't remember the VY SS switch I put in my VYI SV8 when I added foggies to it having illumination.
