Hey guys,

I'm looking at getting a set of wheels for my silver ute in a few months..Bring on the tax check, Woohoo!
I really like the look and simplicity of the Zenetti Kaotik's (black centres with polished lip). I live in Brisbane and haven't found anyone who sells them here, and I've read a few things on here about Tempe being a bit dodgy. Anyone know of a place around Bris, preferably southside or if the things said about tempe are true?
Thanks,
Matt

Ive bought wheel & tyre packages for 3 of my cars and have never had any problems or issues with them..

Some will carry on about them being made in China, being shit quality blah blah blah, but like ive said, ive never had issues with chipping, fading etc etc etc. I say go for it...

I have never heard anything good about Tempe. I have heard enough bad stories, seen the undersized tyres put onto people's cars to never go near them.

I bought a set of stocko VE SS rims with nearly-new tyres from Tempe and had no issues at all (but then, all they actually had to do was package them up and send them to me). Can't speak for their fitting, tyre advice or anything like that, but I'm happy with the service I got.

I have seen alot of people ask for tyres to be stretched, not necessarily because Tempe did it deliberately.

I would stay away from any wheel (or product) for that matter that substitutes "c" with "k"

Lol

Can't say anything bad about them but I haven't bought any wheels/tyres from them as yet.

It does seem you can get very different prices on things there depending on who you talk to on the day.

If you getting the wheel/tyre package from Tempe just know exactly what you want in tyres and sizes so suit the car/wheels being purchased.

From what I have been told they do all there own wheel drilling to suit the wheels to whatever car they are being put on to at the time.( They should know there stuff)

I know personally of a friend who put Tempe 20's of some type on his VL daily. Was not long after this that said VL ended up on its lid after the centre of the front wheel broke while rounding a bend. No one was hurt thankfully although the car was written off.

Bought rims and tyres off them about 6 months ago, packaging was great (sent to WA) and the tyres were the right load rating. havent had a problem with them.

When I was hunting for the right wheels in the dimentions and width to suit my car and brakes Tempe were the only mob who actually wanted to help. Brilliant service and the bloke went all out with measurements, caliper measurements, guard room etc just to sell me a set of wheels only for $800. I tried over 30 wheel suppliers and that is no crap. All bar two did not give a hoot and most said it can not be done or there are no wheels that clear those brakes. It took several calls back and forward to Tempe to get all the measurements done but he found a set for me in two days. Massive amount of work on his behalf.
I have been racing around on the wheels I got off them for 18 plus months.

Simmons were another who had very good service and really keen to help but I was not looking at that sort of budget.

i never actually purchased a tyre and wheel package off them, i was trying to get the exact wheels you are talking about but they only had 18s or 20s in stock, me wanting 19s waited for months and months and they never came in so i went elsewhere. They were nice enough to deal with and offered the 20s at a discounted price to make up for the wait. Unfortunately i can only say their customer service is good

My brother bought some 18 inch chromies (when they were in) a few years ago 6 months later they started to crack and flake.

Went back and they accused us of washing the wheels with acid.

Seriously WTF. Never been back ever.

I've got more stories but the above is enough.

seen this too myself..

problem is ppl pick a 8.5 - 9 inch wide rim and 235/245 is as wide a stock guard will take and you get that effect

also ppl say i'll give you xxx for them so they say fine can do but give you these tyres 225's on a 20" x 8.5 rim lol. does help make the fit the guards i suppose....

I've got tyres before never rims yet, but know many who do get both.

ifyou know whats good and whats the right combo then you ask for it and pricing is usually far better than anywhere else

PS when like the photo the tend to wear the shoulders even with 40 psi...

i guess that tempe cant be all that bad as they would have to be probably one of if not the largest independant tyre and wheel shop in australia. hell have you seen there new showroom

I bought Kaotiks in black around a year ago for my Xr6.

The service from Tempe was pretty good but after a little while the finish on the wheel went spotty with white marks.
I took the car back and he found that it was actually a batch of them which were all slightly doing it.
After a while they disappeared again so I still don't know what it was.
The bloke offered to swap rims for me to another brand/style but because I sold the car (Missed the Holdens Haha) I didn't pursue it.

Also, Ozzy Tyres have pretty much the same rim but it has been given a different name (Still Zenetti, just not called the Kaotik)

Hope it helps you out a little bit

And before that Tempe called them Vault Kaotic's  Try and figure that one out. After my expirience with them a few years back, I'll never go back to Tempe.

Thanks again,

if you want to look at rims no one has a bigger display than tempe, they will even try them on your car, actually fit them so you can see beforehand

I always listened to other people bagging out Tempe Tyres. No matter who you go to regardless of the profession, there is always going to be good stories/experiences and bad stories/experiences. I thought I'd try tempe for my latest set of wheels.

With my experience, I only have good things to say about them. Everyone at Tempe was very polite, they gave me a top price on a wheel package and they were very careful with my car => What more could you ask for?

JAX and Bob Jane have always given me bad service, hell, JAX even sold me second hand wheels at a brand new price. Bob Jane used to recommend 4-wheel wheel alignments on my old pulsar, however later on in life, I found out that my pulsar only 2 of the 4 wheels could be adjusted. What a bunch of crooks. Therefore I will NEVER ever use these companies again. On the other hand, when I need replacement tyres or want new wheels, I will be going back to Tempe Tyres

I agree never had a problem, nor anyone i know..except when ppl try to get a lesser price and want cheaper smaller tyres fitted, but that is probably their fault getting 225s on 8.5 rims. they do have brand rims and they do have cheap ones for those who want them. problems are probably with $800 rim and tyre packages, lol tyres cost more than that..just don't buy cheap unknowns.
they do have very good service for how busy they are, that place seems to be flat out all the time.

On my first car - VZ Storm Ute I had these rims from Ozzy Tyres - 19x8 fronts and 19x9.5 rears - Only guards rolled.

It was a silver ute as well and looked awesome!!

Tempe shouldnt fit too small tyres to the rims FFS, They have a duty of care.

If the $800 tyre & wheel packages are shit dont sell them. Thats simple. Most people dont know they just want to look cool with a set of rims.

There busy cause they do sell cheap shit & dont give a rats arse, Have a look @ the fully sick "P" platers skylines; Pulsars & they like in there..

JAX even sold me second hand wheels at a brand new price.

Tempe is one of my clients and i have seen the amount of sales they go through its unbelievable so in saying that they cant be that bad but i remember i had a wheel alignment done by them and it was the worst one i ever had but each to there own. They have just opened a new showroom its really nice and they have a huge selection.

Just a bit off topic for a second.
You're always gonna get dodgey workers/sale reps, no matter where you go IMO. I've been looking around for other wheel/tyre distributors other than Tempe. Only just started but I've been looking for some Zenetti Kaotik's (19 x 8's and 19 x 9.5's) and getting prices from different places, haven't looked in my own state as of yet though...

Can't remember the others I enquirred with but here's two I'd like to know of.
Wheel Worx and 7 Day Tyres.
Has anyone ever bought rims or tyres from either of them? If so what was their service like?
I'm not put off by Tempe (yet), but if they sold me crap they'd definately know about it, one way or another. If fitting a tyre that's too small for a wide rim is so dangerous, then why on earth do they do it!?
Companies like that need to be put out of business, or slapped with a huge fine at least! :soap:

You get what you pay for.

I bought a set of wheels and tyres a few years ago for our VY Wagon.
I wasn't surprised that I had to have rear guards rolled; even though I was assured this would not be required.
I wasn't happy to find that one of the rims was buckled - had a bad vibration with the "balanced wheels and tyres" that arrived on a pallet, after trying to get them ballance at our local tyre shop you can imagine my surprise to see the 4 wheels spun up on the balancing machine and to find one of them was faulty/buckled.

Customer service about the quality of the supplied wheels was at best no existant.

Saying that, I got a set of 17"s a couple of years ago for my AWD Magna from Tempe, was very happy with the service and the wheel's

I will actually give a shout out to Tempe for their tyres though.

245/35/20 Kumho KU19 x2 + 275/30/20 Kumho KU19 x for $880 ex GST delivered straight to the door via TNT.

Pretty happy with that, especially given what most tyre shops in Canberra want to charge.
