VR 93 Commodore power steering problem

I have developed a reasonable sized leak from the back of the power steering pump, it started last winter but it was only minor, but as the summer months came, it stopped leaking, but now we are getting back into the colder weather again, its leaking again. If I remember correctly, there is a big plastic type of welsh plug on the rear of the cast power steering pump held in with a circlip. I have a feeling the oil is coming from this region as I know its not coming from the reservoir housing as I have just replaced it with a new one including O ring. Can you get a replacement rear O ring and maybe the huge plug on the back? Any dramas to watch for in replacing them? The power steering pump itself is perfect. If I drive the car everyday it is fine, If I leave the car sitting still for a few days, this is when the pump leaks the most.

You can purchase a 'rebuild kit', I believe Holden continue to sell these at a reasonable price. Just remember to put things back in their place, and yes you can replace the rear o ring.

Luke

Thanks Luke, will do. Are there any surprises when you remove that big rear plug?
