Just picked up my 06 ve ss manual. Charged $430 for the service. Now im no service expert but its a bit rich i think. I supplied my own engine oil and also requested the gearbox oil be changed.
Was charged for the following:
-$131 for the service including all the usual bullcrap they tell you they have done
-$40 for a 104point check over:confused:
now parts i was charged for which i cant understand
-HO 89017524 Filter Oil $17.94 What is filter oil? 1 would think that clean engine oil on the filter rubber would be suffice or is this to fill the filter before they screw it on?????
-HO 92140004 Opticlean????? what the hell is this?
-LU OIL-15 Cononco 10w30w GF4 7litres for $56.35 Wat loody hell is this obviously oil but i only asked that gearbox oil be changed and i supplied my own oil???
-LU OIL-2 DEXRON VI Gearbox oil i guess 3.5L for $32.55????
not at all happy with the service. they also rang me saying i need a wheel alignment and balance but ive had 2 done in the last 3months so i unhappily declined their offer:flipoff:
also wrote that my windscreen wiper blades are worn but didnt replace them nor call me to ask if i wanted it done:vpo:
they put tyre shine on me tyres but didnt wash the car or even clean the wheels.
what is wrong with this country these days
they say they replaced the "pollen filter" where abouts to i find this thingo to check if its even been done

Opticlean is windscreen washer fluid
They have cahrged you for engine oil.
$40 check over they should check it over as part of the service
The oil filter may have been the trans filter, Maybe the engine oil filter, Dunno.
Service charge is ok tho.

why would you pay for the 104 point check, that should be covered under the service, but i could be wrong
Also they charged you for engine oil that what the $54 is
the opticlean is for your windscreen washer bottle additive
the filter oil is meant to be oil filter
I would be calling them up and question them about charging you for engine oil if you did supply your own and ask them about the extra charge for the 104 point check.

i paid $496 for my 2.7ltr toyota hilux 07 model at 40,000kms at toyota.
get away from dealership majority of mechanics cover warrenty and also are accredited mechanics which dont void anything, only difference is usually under $200 for major services.

Had to laugh when you said about the tyre shine as I had that crap put on at my 3000km check and grease left on my door and dirty rags left inside the car then I realized you are from Mackay like me. Say no more about the wonderful service we get here. On that note, if anyone from Mackay knows a good mechanic that can do our log book services I'd love to know as I definitely don't intend going back to our friends on Gordon Street.

What else did you get done? Those figures above only add up to $277.84 not $430 if you take off the $56.35 for the oil they should not of charged you for that leaves $221.49, something doesn't add up. Was there more labour or parts?

hopefully i wont own it when its up for its next service or i will take it down to hervey bay where it use to get done cuz atleast i know they do it properly and dont add the "mackay tax" ontop of it. Not sure if hdt can do log book servicing have to wait for jezz to get online to find out.

Opticlean $0.84
Cononco 10w30w $56.35

= 238.68
I orderd another key so add
Key dr lk& ignition $60.45
Transmitter ASM $91.43

labour is not listed on invoice but must be bloody expensive then

Thats not too bad besides them charging you for oil.
Pollen filter is the filter for your the air that comes through your vents.
104pt check over is a complete check over your car. Should be the serviceability of every single component, compared to them just having a quick check over your car before they service it. If you're really paranoid about it take it somewhere else to see if they find anything wrong with you're car. If there is then your dealer didn't do the 104pt check as they most definately would've told you shit that's wrong with the car so they can get more $$$ out of you..

i think $430 is fair enough for a Dealership service...if you are going to own a car you need to factor in maintenance fees, and of course some cars will come out cheaper.
$430 is not big amount, $3k from BMW for a DSC (dynamic stability control) aka traction control unit that failed.
Come on guys we need to be fair.....you got to dealership feeling that they will provide you a service-perhaps better than local mechanics so pay for it.
Mind you I dont get my car serviced at dealership....
just my thoughts.

Filter Oil $17.94
Cononco 10w30w $56.35

Geez, I pay $10.85 including GST from Holden here in Canberra. If you buy the factory filter from Parts and supply with your own oil at time of service its is cheaper. Service seems to add a few dollars on the price of an oil filter when they give you your invoice. I forgot to add my filter (they already supply my Mobil1 5w30 oil) as last serice and the filter cost was $13.87, then they add GST at the end of all the prices added up. I wasn't worried about it as they do the right thing by me.
From my understanding alot of Holden dealerships charge around $99 per hour for labour.

Yep, very true! As Mark said, PD does provide a perspective from the other side of the fence which adds some balance to things that isn't always evident in posts from people who just seem rabidly anti-dealer.

I personally don't think it is that bad for the work done. I don't understand why people go on about dealers yet still take cars there. We hear all the bad threads with regards to getting warranty work approved so why bother worrying about keeping it all serviced by dealers.

In my case given my level of mods I try to keep in sweet with my dealer by using him for service so if ever there is a line-ball warranty issue on the powertrain they'll push for me to get it. I've used them for over 6 years now and never had an issue and they have no hassles with mods (apparently some of their guys have modded cars and drag etc.). I only do just over 1,000km per month so at less than one service per year on average the extra $50 - $100 extra the service costs me (their rates seem quite reasonable) seems good insurance to me should I for instance have hassles with the (bloody expensive) A6.

If you saw the monthly bills for a dealership you'd understand better. It costs an absolute fortune in wages, licensing fees, training courses, compulsary specialised tools and equipment and normal bills. Someone obviously has to pay in the end.

Pollen filter isnt in the heaterbox if its a VE.
Pop your bonnet and youll see a section at the base of the windscreen in the plastic vent panel with plastic push clips (passenger side). Remove the clips and lift the plastic panel up and look down into the cavity and you should see a nice new white paper type filter in there.
