hi, i have a vy ss and its not idleing properley, it dosnt stall but very close to it. when i drive it it drives fine but its only when it idles. i took the battary out to clean it because it had been leaking acid, then i put it back in, then straight away i had this problem. so i suspect its something to do with the battary.

maybe its time to get a new battary??

Whats your thoughts.

thanks

if the battery is leaking acid, does this mean i need a new battery.

Check vaccum hose, at front of manifold to the right of rocker cover -
the left rocker as you face the engine...

I'd say it was caused by removing the battery which effectively zeroed the idle learning trims in the PCM. It shouldn't have happened if you had a good desired airflow map in your tune. But apparently your car is reliant on the trims. If that is the case. It won't do it again unless you reset the PCM again.

It's much like the comment "does a tap need a new washer if it's leaking"

also check that your throttle body is nice andclean... mine had idling problems when cold...... obviously your problem is a little different to mine but worth cleaning it up just incase.....

Ronie, If a battery is leaking and it's not due to overfilling then I'd be tossin it out. If the battery is on the way out you'll know when you start the car and the traction control will turn off. This is a definite sign that she's ready to be replaced. As for the idle problem as macca said it's the ecu re-learning all the engine's parameters that you have erased. When you replace the battery just start the engine and let it idle without touching anything for about 10 minutes. The rest it will learn as you drive it. Funnily enough my XU1 never had this problem ........ lol oh the joy of technology
