Ok guys after posting "I know a guy that does a great roll cage here in Toowoomba" In another thread I have been hammered with pm's asking for details.
The guy that does the awesome cages with second to none detail is Kyle, owner of 6boost.com more known for making custom turbo manifolds for any application.
After much debating he has now turned his hand to cro molly cages and race car fabrication work. Prices are awesome and the work well its clean enough to eat your dinner off. It really needs to be seen to be believed.
Contact Details.
Kyle Hoppf 0140 730 598
Give him a ring he will be more than happy to talk to you about everything and anything custom.

Also I know that Pat Oldham's old business, Racecraft, was absorbed by Lindsey (V8_ute from here on the forum) who is also able to help in the cage fabrication department if Toowoomba's distance seems off-putting for anyone. Great to have more options these days on cages, etc. I wish I had such options when I was looking.
The only thing I would suggest to people, having been through this, is that a group buy does make things easier/cheaper, and if possible have a jig made up for future fabrications.
As for specs - well all I'll say is be careful, and get the design approved by the necessary people in high places in these organisations if there are any concerns. It's great to have that signed bit of paper on your design to wave in front of Tech Inspectors :)

I didn't think there was anything wrong with having a rollcage Leatherman?
Unless its one of those ones which impedes the back seat, in which case the seatbelts are gonna need to come out and therefore no one can sit back there anymore.
One other issue may be the hard core ones which actually block your access from the driver and passenger doors as you have to hop over them to get in.
Did you get the chat for having a cage at some point?

Not a problem with any of kyles work. It can be sitting there finished phone the andra tech inspector and he will be there within the hour to inspect it and providing no dramas pass it. Best thing about it the andra inspector is just a phone call away. As for distance its only 45mins from brisbane. Worth the time for a quality job at a great price.

What your talking about is a side intrusion bar. These can be made to be removable for street use and bolt in for the drags. Will also pass any tech inspection.

As i said it's great having so many options now!!!!!! But I still think the cage has to be in the car for complete approval, but I'm happy to be corrected on that point. Out of interest do you know what it costs for the ANDRA tech inspector to come and visit as that is a very useful option in my opinion.

No probs with my cage - all signed and sealed from both David Baker at ANDRA and LBT has it's mod plate riveted in place for compliance to QLD regulations. In fact a Dept of Transport officer stopped me about a year ago and commended the design of the cage.
