When I was looking at buying mine I ummed and ahhed about the idea of waiting for the AFM version in an effort to try and save money. While I believe the technology is credible, I have always been a bit dubious as to weather the technology would really save you that much in the real world. The above article has interesting results. In a nutshell, they pitted a XR8 and SS with AFM against one another in a number of tests to 'decide' the best car. One of the tests was an 800km run and the result. 0.3l between the two cars.
